I put this in another post, too, but this isn't a very uncommon scoreline. A player wins the first set, gets a big lead in the second and then collapses, chokes, etc. Sometimes the disappointment of being so close and yet so far is too much for players, and after coming close to winning in straight sets, they simply go away in the third and can't function. Add the heat factor -- it's hot, I'm tired -- and that can make it doubly difficult to get back up for it. Didn't Capriati have a set up and a pretty big lead against Serena at the French last year, only to lose going away in the third? I'm guessing what happened to Daniela is more mental than physical. If it were physical, I doubt she would have got to such a big lead in the first place -- unless, of course, the heat took its toll. I wouldn't worry too much. Somewhere down the road, Hantuchova will win a match in similar conditions!
