Damn, why am I always so tired when I get home? Wasnt anything too too interesting going down tonight, but away we go....
I got to the tennis park at exactly 5pm. I had to pay $10 for parking now (what a complete rip-off). So I ran quickly over to court 6 where Kratochvil-Meligeni was going on. I got there towards the end of the second set and Michel had called the trainer...apparently something was wrong (cramps possibly...never found out). Poor Michel lost and was visibly disappointed. He was very gracious however and signed his autograph for everyone that wanted it. Hackie, I got a nice close-up of Michel!
After that match I started roaming, and found Guga! He was practicing with Schalken. I took some pictures of the two of them. Guga really makes odd sounds when hitting the ball
I left him and went over to the other court and who do I see?? YES! Juanqui and Corretja were hitting together!! Yay! Got some more pictures of those two. Juanqui wasnt hitting as well as yesterday, but at least this is practice and not the real thing. I decided not to stay and watch the finish of their practice.
I left that court and saw Youzhny doing some stretches on the walkway nearby. I went over and started watching the Pisnik-Valero match. I was standing by the seats and I noticed this guy who looked very familiar was standing right in front of me. It was Albert Costa! He was rooting on Valero (they must be good friends or something) He was really into the match, but after it finished I made him stand and get a picture with me. Hes very nice, and not at all as fat as I thought he was.
Decided to head over to the practice courts and see who I could spot. Saw Jaime Delgado practicing with someone, didnt stay for that one. Oh yeah I wandered over to the practice courts by the grandstand and noticed that there was a semi-large crowd over there. I headed by and it turns out Schuttler and Safin had just finished their practice session. I got a picture of Safin before he left and as he exits the court hes literally swarmed by fans. He kept moving signing autographs and taking pictures. He didnt stop at all but he was very nice and wasnt mean about it, he just didnt want to spend the entire day doing it. Poor Schuttler didnt get any attention except for a few stragglers who were obviously not going to get Safin
So I moved to another court and caught Majoli practicing with another girl. She wasnt doing to well. She and this girl were playing a match, and her first serve was NOT going in at all, and she was getting quite angry. Her practice ended and Kucera stepped in.
I then was getting all hot and bothered since I was in my work clothes so I decided to sit down and watch the Paul Henri-Mathieu - Lee matchup. Pretty one-sided. Paul has some monstrous groundstrokes but then so does Lee. Paul was just missing a lot of shots so after he lost the first set 6-2? I decided to leave. There was no booing at his match.
It was around 6:30 so I had the option of going to the stadium for Schett-Molik or the grandstand with Fish-Voinea. I made the mistake of going to the latter one.
However on my way there at the practice courts nearest to the players lounge I saw a group of people gathered around. I was wondering who was hitting and guess who!!? It was MONICA!!! YAY! MONICA! She had just finished and was being escorted by her coach and two security officers. People were shouting We love you monica it was nice. Monica signed some autographs but did the same thing as Safin and just kept moving forward. Let me say that Monica does not look fat. She did have a towel around her but if you ever see her in person, trust me, she isnt fat. I snapped a few pictures of her before she bolted back to the players lounge. Ahhhh Monica
So I get my seat over at the grandstand for Fish-Voinea. I dont like Fish so I was going to be all pro-Voinea since you knew the crowd was going to be behind Fish-head. Voinea started off wonderfully and it helped that Mardy sucked big time. Fish's serve was crap and so were his groundies. Thats why he lost 6-0 in the first set. I was chuckling to myself at how angry mardy was getting. Unfortunately, he started to find his game in the second set as the two of them exchanged a handful of breaks. Adrian was unhappy and lost the second set 6-4. It was pretty downhill from there. In the third set Voinea threw his racket towards the chair and accidentally hit a ballboy...he apologised to the kid, but still received a code violation. Towards the end, this group of fucking frat boys enter the stands and start screaming their heads off for Fish. I wanted to smack their over-obnoxious selves. They also made fun of Voinea's serve shouting that he was looking stiff. Then when Mardy hit an ace they all screamed and hollarred about how Adrian couldnt handle the heat.
Damn frat boys. Unfortunately Fish won..yick. So after that it was getting late and as Im leaving I saw that Molik and Schett were heading towards a third set tiebreak and thought shit I should have watched that match since it looked so much more entertaining.
I had to leave though since it was getting late, I wanted to give you all an update and I need to go to work tomorrow. Not a bad days work
Ill have to post the pics tomorrow since Im dead tired and really cant crop them all tonight.
