Anna-Lena Grönefeld - Totgesagte leben länger!

Anna-Lena Grönefeld quit with Junior, and will play the "real" tour now.

her first tounrmanet this year is the 10K event in Hull/England

1st Round: Anna-Lena Grönefeld d. Iveta Gerlova 6-4 6-2
2nd Round: Anna-Lena Grönefeld d. Matea Mezak 6-3 6-4
Quarterfinal: Anna-Lena Grönefeld d. Irina Boulykina 6-3 4-6 6-0

Something was bound to go right sometime today, All these broken pieces fit together to make a perfect picture of us
It got cold and then dark so suddenly and rained, It rained so hard the two of us were the only thing
That we could see for miles and miles
And in the middle of the flood I felt my worth, When you held onto me like I was your little life raft
Please know that you were mine as well
Drops of water hit the ground like God's own tears
And spread out into shapes like Salad bowls and basins and buckets for bailing out the flood

Final:

Grönefeld - Van de Ven 7-6 (4) 6-3

it is her 2nd ITF title after Saulgau last year
and will move her to a ranking around #460

now she is a "quality-point player"

I've also seen her in Hull last week and I must say she's an impressive player, with a very good serve. When I saw her play Elke I knew she would win the tournament, but against Van de Ven she wasn't that good. Still, when she was with her back against the wall, facing a couple of breakpoints, she stepped it up and I think that is what made the difference.
Congrats Anna-Lena!

I'll hopefully be seeing Anna-Lena in action again in Tipton on Saturday and Sunday.
I know it's a long way away, but is there a chance that the German tennis federation might give her a qualifying wild-card for the Berlin WTA tournament in early May, which I'm travelling to with a friend? The better she does in the next 3 - 4 months, the more chance there is of that happening.
