Und Mexico City zieht die Bewerbung für das WTA Finale zurück..
The WTA announced that three cities remain in the bidding process for the WTA Championships for 2014 and beyond. Monterrey has been accepted as a candidate city, replacing Mexico City as Mexico's candidate. Singapore and Tianjin, China, are also still in the running. Kazan, Russia was eliminated from the competition.
Monterey, which hosts a WTA tournament in April, became a candidate after a recent change of government in Mexico City led to the withdrawal of its bid by IMG, which had the backing of the previous government there. The new government is backing Monterey’s bid. The WTA requires that every candidate city have government backing.
WTA Chairman and CEO Stacey Allaster will be visiting each of the remaining finalists in the upcoming weeks.
