Re: S3: Week 0: Hopman Cup, Perth (Exhibition) | Final posted! Congrats Winners!

Murray and Keothavong Conquer Perth!

Andy Murray and Anne Keothavong certainly lived up to their country's repuatation of 'Great' by defeating tricky opponents of Tomas Berdych and Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic in last nights Final! Keothavong and Murray have had a near perfect week, with some big wins and providing us the fans with some mouth watering tennis. Andy believes that his form couldn't be any better coming into the new season.

How do you assess the week that you have had in Perth?
Quote: know I mean great. It's been the perfect preparation for me to get my season going. The heat can be tough to deal with at times, but it's definately the best place to start your preparation for the new season. Myself and Anne have had a really good week here this week, and I really enjoyed playing along side her in the Hopman Cup

How did it feel to lift the trophy with a fellow Brit, after the hard work you both put in this week?
I have to say that a felt very relieved (smiles) but proud of the way we played. I think that Anne and I have really improved our game over the last couple of years, and it was nice to share the occassion and success with some one I know that worked just as hard as me out there over the past week. But, know it felt good.

Are you feeling any pressure for the new season, or expectations that everyone has for you?
No, not at all, you know I don't really think about things like that. I just keep my full concentration on my tennis, thinking about what I need to do out on court. I'm feeling very good for this season, I'm just taking one match at a time, and hopefully all my hardwork will pay off. If you thought about things like that day and night, then you wouldn't really get anywhere. You learn to deal with things like that as you get more experienced as a tennis player.

What do you think of your fellow Brit Anne Keothavong?
Anne played some great tennis this week, the best I've ever seen her play actually. I think that if she plays like she did this week at Perth through out the season then I think that she will have a lot of success on the tour this year! She helped me a lot this week really, with keeping my focus and pumping me up out on court. I think our only negative (smiles) is we can get a bit emotional out there on court, but you know that's tennis (smiles). I wish her good success for the year anyway, and ye I'll look forward to when we next play together.

Take it you like Australia now then?
Ye, it's great! It's just really chilled out. There's so many great places to visit and see. Like I said it's the perfect preparation for getting ready for the new season to start.

What's next for Andy Murray then?
A lot more training (laughs) and just making sure that I'm in good shape for the Australian Open. I mean I feel pretty ready now. I'm just looking forward to seeing what the new season will bring, and hopefully I can get some good results this year.

Make her run. Get her. Remember, it takes courage and discipline to do/be Serena Williams- the best.
