I think back in Wimbledon 1994 Steffi lost in the first round to this one American player(Lory McNeal or something, I don't remember her name ) and Steffi was the defending champion then. I'm pretty sure that upset was as big as this one, maybe even bigger as Steffi was the number one seed, whereas Jennifer is only the third seed.
The thing that sticks in my mind is that
the quality of the match was pure class. This was
one of the best 1st round matches I've seen in ages.
