What's Stosurs game like?

Off my knowledge shes #244, was the top junior (under 18) in Aus. and today just beat Conchit Martinez for her best victory ever.

Who does she have in round 2 and do u guys think she can go further?

Its exciting to have more Aussie girls coming thru...well done Sam

Good luck to the Aussie and Balkan girls!

Of the young Aussies that played in the Canberra Women's Classic, Stosur probably had the best shot variation. Powerful forehand, strong second serve. Always looking to come to the net. She's listed as being 175 cm (5' 9"), but actually looks shorter than that (has a similar build to some of our soccer players - nuggety). Seems to have a very good temperament - during matches and on the practice court.

In Canberra, she (unexpectedly) lost in the first round of qualifying to Vanessa Webb (who also won today) and it seemed be a combination of Stosur thumping balls too long, Webb's height and Webb's lefthandedness.

Rematch on Wednesday. So other of those gets huge ranking boost with "lucky" draw

SM you saw Stosur play Arn last year with us, what u on about???

She has a very powerful first serve, she served a 185km serve today. She mixes her shots, takes the ball early, is patient and attacks controllingly.

She played well today and frustrated Conchita with how well she handled her top spin.

Hopefully she can give Webb a better run for her money on Wednesday, I will report on the match Wed night

Personality-wise, Sam is the sweetest girl you'll ever want to meet. It's a shame she's stuck in a relationship with a looney, pushy, manipulative wench she calls her doubles partner.
