Do Seles and Clijsters have a hope in hell of beating Serena? I doubt it

Face it, Serena has an easy draw. Capriati and Davenport (as well as Henin and Venus) are all on the other side and the only top ten players Serena faces are Seles and Clijsters! There's also Chanda, but I don't think I see her beating Serena in the semis. Can Serena be beaten in the final? Or is a Serena slam inevitable?

Of course both are able to beat her. They each beat her once before, so it's not like it's not possible.

Exactly Victory.
I'm looking forward to seeing Monica-Serena, and I don't think anything is a forgone conclusion at this point.

Kim is in better position considering that Monica could give Serena a run for her money... Kim's quarter is easier (I think)

Oh yeah greeeeat draw. Two of the very few players who beat Serena last year, and the greatest active player of them all.

Davenport? Capriati? Venus?

Serena has won the last 3 against Lindsay, 4 against Venus and 5 against Jenn.

There were four players in the top 16 who actually beat Serena last year. Chanda, Patty, Justine and Kim. She could play three of them. Kim, Justine and Chanda or Patty. Serena got two, plus Monica. I think Serena would rather play Justine than Monica. Any sane person would.

If you want to be technical about it, based on the 2002 record, this draw is just about as bad as it cold get for Serena. She gets Kim, who beat her in the tour Championships, instead of Jen, who she's beaten five straight times. She draws Monica, by far the most accomplaished of the four possible QF opponents. Chanda, who beat her in 2002, the highest ranking player outside the top ten to do so.

And Serena probably won't drop a set.

Not even getting into the whole Monica issue, Kim is 19-2 since the start of October, with the 2 losses coming to Lindsay Davenport (who Kim also beat during this time) and Serena Williams (who Kim also beat during this time).

Honestly if I was Serena, I'd rather face Venus than Kim.

You have to answer for Santino, Carlo.

I think "not a hope in hell" is too strong.

Sure, you wouldn't bet large amounts on either of them beating her, she's the clear favourite! But we know they both CAN beat her.

It's all very to say, for example, Kim only beat Serena last year because poor Serena was so tired, but who's to say Serena won't be tired or just not at her peak by the end of this tournament either? She won't be invincible unless she is able to beat the others when she's not at her peak as well as when she is.

I think Monica will be more of a threat than Kim. To defeat Serena when she is playing well you must place her on defense. Kim does not hit many winners against Serena, she returns well. Monica on the other hand can be very aggressive. She, like Lindsay can dictate tons of points. Serena wants to dictate so she will go for more hence alot more errors. Having said that, it is up to Serena because if she is playing well does not matter much what they do.

Beat'em down Ms Williams, beat'em down!
SERENA PRINCESS OF POWER

Victoria Duval - coming to a slam near you
Françoise Abanda definitely a future #1 --- Taylor Townsend devastation on the march
Venus and Serena ferocious grannies --- Kimiko Date Krumm great granny still doing her thing.
