Thanks, but looking at that list I get angry again.

Wouldn't 16 seeds be just fine ? Those from 17 to 32 are good players, but do they really need special treatment ? And Srebotnik seeded ? Please ...

IMO that has been the most stupid rule change ever.

Srebotnik seedsed????
Is this some kind of injury rankings? How the hell is she seeded?

Cogito, ergo sum.

Katarina finished 2002 ranked #36

there is no
Mauresmo
Dokic
Hingis
plus Anna loses 69 pts from Auckland taking her to 32nd and last seeded spot.

Anna doesn't look like she is playing, Bedanova isn't entered either

so Schett and Schiavone will have to make final to move ahead of Kata.

Good luck to my favs

c'mon, at leat Katarin won a title this yr,
look what Anna has done.......
and she almost made the seeding,
but i like this system though,
increase the possibility of upsets
and this is not really special since they
are almost garranteed to face TOP 16 by 4R
so we can see uprising players upsetting more often,
and the run of Charisa seems a lot more impressive.......
also better match-ups in 2nd week....
i dont wanna see #16 vs #17 in 1R,
rather see them playing each other in 4R

It's much better to seed 32 than 16 because then you don't get all kinds of screwy 1st round matches of #16 playing #17 and so on. And it's good for the top players too and it gives them a bigger reward for having the best record over the year. And finally it keeps undeserving players who get lucky draws from reaching the R16 or even QF. Like the '01 Roland Garros when Schiavone Krasnoroutskaya and (especially) Mandula all got to the QF. In a normal seeding system like the new one, lower-level players like Mandula get weeded out and the deserving players don't get screwed as often.

16 seeds are alot better........ why not go the whole way and seed all 128
and draw it automatically 1 vs 128, 2 vs 127 and so on until 64 vs 65

Good luck to my favs

Actually why not forget the seeding altogether - let the Williams play each other in the first round instead of the final - that would make a lot of sense. Seeding is for the faint of heart anyway.

Why all the anger at Srebotnik being seeded? Shes done well to get her ranking up and she deserves it. I think 32 seed are all right, it helps avoid crappy match ups like #16 vs #17 when under the new system both would have a better chance of surviving past 1st round.

i hope to live long enough to see that.....
but with the depth of WTA nowadays,
32 seeding is more suitable,
for example, Bovina has been doing great,
and with 16 seeding, she wont be seeded,
would you want to see her facing Venus/Serena
is 1R and lose in straight sets?

32 seedings at least give better players
better draws to go to 2nd week,
they only have to win 1 match against higher ranked
players to be playingin 2nd week,
also the TOP 8 seeds are usually well known,
so by letting them avoid being upset by #17 ranked players,
like last time Schett taking out Venus,
at least the QF will be more likely to be quality matches.....
