Venus' no show: Good Thing?

I've been thinking about Venus choosing not to defend her title.

Is it a good thing or a bad thing?

Obviously for the other players it's a good thing, but what about the tournament itself. It will certainly help if Venus played. The fans would get to see a top player. And it would give her a warm-up to the Aussie [only Venus fans would care about that though ].

Any thoughts?

I think Venus needs to get a tournament or some level of competition under her belt. She tried that last year and was injured, so maybe she is deciding to go back to her usual just showing up for the australian open. I dont think that is a good idea, but who knows.

I am not conceited, I am just convinced

I think it is a great idea because Venus thinks it is a great idea.

Seriously, the WTA tour is way too long, and I think Venus should come back at OZ Open. Why risk an injury right before the first slam of the year.
