Question Fed Cup Semifinals and Finals Site?

How will the ITF decide where to hold the semifinals and finals. If I'm not mistaken, the site has yet to be determined.

If it's like in the last years, it will be hold in one of the countries that reaches the semifinals, depending on the different sites that each country offers.

If that's the case, then the logical choice would be the United States. Most of the players who'll be playing Fed Cup will be in Los Angeles for the Tour Championships, so why have them hop on a plane and go somewhere else? The fact that I'm an American has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with my line of reasoning, of course.....

that's easy, coz some people wanna go home,
plus 3 out of the 4 semifinalists are European teams,
if they want to choose a venue, it's best to set in Europe,
if US already got WTA Tour Champ, why not give
others a chance to host.....

i pick Belgium btw...

Hmmm well if each country sends its top players to Fed Cup, this is how it would breakdown:

USA
Serena Williams
Venus Williams
Lindsay Davenport
Chanda Rubin
*All four Americans are currently in the Tour Champs

Belgium
Kim Clijsters
Justine Henin
Els Callens
Caroline Maes
*Only Clijsters and Henin are in the Tour Champs

France
Amelie Mauresmo
Nathalie Dechy
Emilie Loit
Marion Bartoli
*Only Mauresmo is in the Tour Champs

Russia
Anastasia Myskina
Vera Zvonareva
Elena Dementieva
Elena Bovina
*NONE of the Russians are currently in the Tour Champs

Obviously it would be most beneficial for the Americans, for the tie to be held in the States. One, they would get to choose the surface. Two, all of their players would be in LA already. I think though, all three teams besides the USA would chose to hold the tie on clay. Any other surface would be suicide to face an American team with both Williams sisters. I think all three European teams are looking toward beating the USA, and the easiest way is through clay. Indoors is a possibility considering Venus' recent poor indoor record...but hardcourts is a definite no. Indoors might also be a good choice because that's Justine's weakest surface.

I think the Americans would choose outdoor hard or indoors.
Belgium would choose clay, Russia would chose clay, and France would choose clay.

Not necessarily...it depends on the host country. When the Belgians won the title in 2001 it was played on an indoor clay court. The year before that in 2000 it was played at Stanford on an outdoor hardcourt.

Fedcup.com has a poll for people's preferred venue! At the moment the results are:

Belgium (79.8%)
France (12.2%)
USA (5.1%)
Russia (2.8%)
