Four Sites Under Consideration To Host U.S. Fed Cup Quarterfinal
By Tennis Week
The U.S. Fed Cup team will carry the momentum from its first-round victory over Czech Republic last weekend as well as an 8-0 record against quarterfinal opponent Italy into the Fed Cup quarterfinals, scheduled for July 19-20th in the United States. The USTA announced today it is considering four sites to host the tie.
Three of the sites under consideration — Shreveport, LA (8,000 seats), Boise, ID (5,500 seats) and St. Paul, MN (18,000 seats — offer indoor venues. The fourth site, Washington D.C. (7,500 seats), is an outdoor venue.
The USTA must select a site by May 12th. U.S. Fed Cup captain Billie Jean King must select a four-player squad (a minimum of three players are required in Fed Cup play) by the Fourth of July.
DC would be a good choice.
