She was scheduled for the last match on Center court tomorrow (not before 8 pm Moscow time)

Those russians must really hate her

Bataie de joc. Altele au jucat deja 3 meciuri pana azi, miercuri (simplu + dublu), iar ea nici n-a inceput turneul. Mai bine ii puneau primul meci vineri seara, sa stie o treaba.

I watched her live last year in Cincinnati against AMG and even though she lost and was struggling winning matches at that point, I really liked her on court demeanor and her game. Watching her catch fire this year has been truly remarkable. She doesn't have a lot of power, but her placement is spot on. I love watching her matches when she is confident and playing well.

Looking at her results and thinking about next year, she isn't going to be able to increase her ranking much more with a QF at these events sort of events (MM, PM470). Her "other" results are taken up with 4 titles (3 International and 1 PM470 and a second round showing in Dubai). So if she wins this title she will gain 400 points and move up to around #14 depending on how Ivanaovic and others do. From then on, she really can only drastically increase her ranking with doing well in the mandatory events that she didn't do so well in this year. But great news is that there are like 8 of them!

AO - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)
Doha - 1 match won (70 pts - she would need to get a QF or better since Tokyo is the 3rd PM900 that is counting on her ranking with 125 pts)
IW - 1 match won (50 pts to defend)
Miami - 1 match won (80 pts to defend)
Madrid - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)
FO - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)
Wimbledon - 1 match won (100 pts to defend)
Beijing - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)

Looking at that list of tournaments, one thing to note is 7 of them are in the first half of the year. If she can gain a huge amount of points in one or more of those events, she will surely help out her chances to join the top level players.

Now I'm not saying she should forget about playing MM or PM470's because titles are always a great thing, especially with building confidence. And when her titles fall off on her ranking in the later stages of next year, she will need a cushion of points to not fall in the rankings. Overall, I'm just very excited about what is in store for this girl. Amazing transition, really

No way.
Match vs Magda won't be easy. If Simona wins Thursday night I am curios when she will be scheduled Friday.
Early I suppose.
Digisport will be happy though.

The organizers want to make sure she has enough time to enjoy the city.

Or that a Russian will win the tournament (and I'm not being sarcastic here) as there are 4 left and 2 are on Simona's Half.

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

They want to give the Slovak rest. She is definitely not fit at the moment.

Beating ill Rybarikova and come back Kleybanova for 200 ranking points.

Welcome in the Top 20, Simona.

Welcome in the Top 20, Simona.
You know she still has to win those two matches, right?
But I agree, life is sweeter inside Top 20.

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

I would be shocked to see her losing one of these. Perfect match-ups for her at the moment.

It's not surprising to see the same players at YEC than last year. Once on top, you will always find some depleting draws to take advantage of.

Yup. Making the top 10 is actually harder than staying there.

Oh, come on. The organizers aren't being rude, they scheduled her in the Main Event of the day . That's why she plays last.

Retired...

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

Yeah, right.

She could have played today, instead of tomorrow, last match on Center Court, if all they wanted was to treat her match as the main event of the day.

I think her shoulder is fine. If it wasn't fine she would have played her second round match last Sunday, after some qualifying matches (now I'm just being rude, I admit)
