Her section is a complete joke.

I'm quite optimistic to see her in the SFs at least.

Kleybanova was the first bigger scalp of Simona if I remember correctly, at the AO a couple of years ago.

Angie withdraw...will the draw be changed?

may your choices reflect your hopes not your fears.

Hope she got a good rest and she'll be able to show up in the semis here. Hai Simono!

Nice draw, please take advantage. Good luck!

Just so you know: I'm better than you because my fave is better than your fave. Your fave is a bitch and a shrieking BBB. Or was it pusher? Who cares. She's a classless brat anyway. But don't you dare insult my fave, idiot.

Check out page three of this thread

Considering the draw she has after Kerber withdrew, it would be a real disappointment to me if Simona doesn't reach at least the SF here. She had an injury at her shoulder blade when she played against U. Radwanska so we can blame that terrible performance on that, but she really needs to play some better tennis in Moscow now that she is fit again. No one from that draw is even close to peak Simona so I hope she shows up

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

Hi guys

I know I've never posted here before but I'm quite enthralled by Simona. I watched her live last year in Cincinnati against AMG and even though she lost and was struggling winning matches at that point, I really liked her on court demeanor and her game. Watching her catch fire this year has been truly remarkable. She doesn't have a lot of power, but her placement is spot on. I love watching her matches when she is confident and playing well.

Looking at her results and thinking about next year, she isn't going to be able to increase her ranking much more with a QF at these events sort of events (MM, PM470). Her "other" results are taken up with 4 titles (3 International and 1 PM470 and a second round showing in Dubai). So if she wins this title she will gain 400 points and move up to around #14 depending on how Ivanaovic and others do. From then on, she really can only drastically increase her ranking with doing well in the mandatory events that she didn't do so well in this year. But great news is that there are like 8 of them!

AO - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)
Doha - 1 match won (70 pts - she would need to get a QF or better since Tokyo is the 3rd PM900 that is counting on her ranking with 125 pts)
IW - 1 match won (50 pts to defend)
Miami - 1 match won (80 pts to defend)
Madrid - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)
FO - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)
Wimbledon - 1 match won (100 pts to defend)
Beijing - 0 matches won (5 pts to defend)

Looking at that list of tournaments, one thing to note is 7 of them are in the first half of the year. If she can gain a huge amount of points in one or more of those events, she will surely help out her chances to join the top level players.

Now I'm not saying she should forget about playing MM or PM470's because titles are always a great thing, especially with building confidence. And when her titles fall off on her ranking in the later stages of next year, she will need a cushion of points to not fall in the rankings. Overall, I'm just very excited about what is in store for this girl. Amazing transition, really
