Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

I loved the look on her face today when she answered the moronic question about her surgery; her smile as if to say, "I was wondering when the questions would turn toward idiocy." Like Dylan talking to TIME magazine in '64: that's how easy it was for her to turn that aside. She's got that kind of authentic heroism to her, and I have no doubt her following in Romania will be insane.

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

Are we really worried about Petkovic?

It seems we are worried whoever she plays at the moment with the final so close, Errani or Petkovic... or anyone else...

so close, good job Halep has stronger mental strength than us fans

Simona [14] - Kasatkina
Aga [20] - Beck [2] - Kvitova [18]
Cetkovska - Bencic [2] - Gasparyan [1] - Cîrstea [1] - Sevastova [1]

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

I think Simona will win the French Open this year

She was incredibly strong today. Maria is fighting very hard, but not in top form

But you never know 100 % ...

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

Good Luck
Serena Williams Maria Sharapova Jelena Jankovic
A. Radwanska V. Zvonareva C. Wozniacki N. Petrova M. Hingis
T. Paszek A. Chakvetadze K. Sprem J. Dokic I. Tulyaganova A. Myskina

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

Guys , not there yet.. still a SF to play.
Let just not get over our heads and concentrate. Every player at this stage is tough so do not dismantle Petkovic.

Simona can win , ofc , in a personal note , i was scared about Errani, i always think if Simona will play Errani could be that kind of a match that Simona lose focus and patience. But Petkovic had the tools to bypass Errani , so for the start is a good thing. Now , we must focus on Andrea .

Simona must keep her focus for this match. Her mind must be in this match and not in the final. From what i`ve heard in her interviews she doesn`t think about the final just yet. So , it`s a good sign. We will see a Simona make her little Goliath steps to accede the next round.

Hai Simona!

Simona Halep

I didn`t want to be her fan, I just ... couldn't resist

I am worried. Petkovic has absolutely nothing to lose. She showed that against Eranni. It's all about which Simona shows, I can't forget her first GS quarterfinal in AO. She was nervous, I hope she isn't now. Regarding the final, I think it would be better to meet Sharapova because Simona would be the outsider with nothing to lose, I think someone like Genie is not the opponent you want to face in your first final when you are the favorite.

Retired...

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

To me Simona played like a Grand Slam winner today

She has EVERYTHING. She is fast, amazing forehand, amazing backhand, great mover

And what impressed me the most: Simona plays sooo clever just wow

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

Good Luck

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

I just hated Petko for years (only because she beat Olaru in that final) but she is sooooo nice and all-round cool person that I ended up liking her very much

I'm happy for her that she overcame those injuries and now made this SF, but she will be huge underdog. She does have moments where she's just "in the zone" and there's not much you can do to stop her. She'll need to be like that the whole match, otherwise Simona will impose her game. The way Simona played this RG i don't see her losing to Petko.

Agree with most of that apart from it being better to meet Sharapova, Genie would be a much better proposition imo.

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

I've noticed that Kuznetsova matches are often a bit special for Simona. They've played 5 times, and each of Simona's 3 wins holds significance:
  • First Top 20 win (Toronto, 2011)
  • R1 of Rome 2013 (where Simona's rise began)
  • Reached her first Slam SF

I have every faith that Simona will win tomorrow. Petkovic will be tough, but Simona looks imperious at the moment.

This, i don't see Simona losing to most players when she is on... but this is a Slam semi-final, she will be nervous, even more so being the heavy favourite. Nerves can play dirty tricks on even the best players, I am worried more about this than the opponent.

Hopefully she will be better prepared after her loss at the AO Quarters, a match she should have won also.

Only at 1 thing is safer what u said. Genie is not mental toughness as Sharapova. Not by far. But i`m worried about a attitude as Neko said , something like " I don`t give a damn , i`ll go for my shots "

And from what i`ve seen this tournament on her , for 1 set in her almost every game , all of her shots was near the line , touch the line , a brute force winner.

I want Sharapova. Simona knows how to take a revenge , and she prob want Sharapova in the final.

Simona has to go out and beat Petkovic like she did today against Kuzzy. Hope she serves well.

See Petko's Press Conference from today. She said the key for her was attacking Errani's serve. I didn't see the match but it seams she was indeed very aggressive in the return game. I imagine she will try that against Simona also. Simona will need to bring her "Madrid" serves
