And the way you bother the hard hitters is to move inside when they are pushed off the court. You have to force them to hit passing shots. You can't stay back and give them all the time they need to tee off. They'll kill you if you don't put pressure on them. You don't want to give them the whole court to hit in.
I hope her coach looks at those Net Points and, at least, tries to teach her how to move inside the court. That will take her game to another level.

since she doesn't have twitter, she can't hello to the fans.

simona is playing now in doubles
the match began since 1 hour and it's 1-1 , simona won the 1st set

actually don't know what's the better winning or losing to focus on the singles and don't be exhausted
anyway good luck simona

From what I saw, she was really solid against Piter :yeah:
3 set loss in doubles to the #4 seeds, no shame

Simona Halep (ROU) [11] vs. Varvara Lepchenko (USA) on Court 8 starting 11 local time. Another hot hour for Simona to be playing, thing that i don`t quite understand ! All the favorites are playing late hours when the sun is falling and the temperature is colder, but Simona has to play both her games in the middle of the day... Anyway, Simona is a strong girl and can handle it, but just saying

Because of the time difference (I live in Holland) I probably won't be able to watch this match. Pretty confident she'll pull through though. Hoping to watch some of her matches in the second week. I can sense a deep run coming:)

^^ Too chill or too common your songs (no offense :p )
I remember Down Under being played when Neil Robertson won the World Snooker Championship and it's also his entrance theme and it sounds great. That's the thing about it, it's chill, relaxing. That's Simona. But Eye of the tiger is amazing too. That song taught me to never give up when I was once injured.

@Nightcrawl3r - Yep, the Pat Benatar song would be good too.

I'd like to see a bit more ruthlessness from Simona tonight, like we know she can be from Sofia, Moscow etc. For example, once she had Ana & Sam on the ropes in Sofia she didn't let up and there was very little doubt about which way the match would go. She played quite well against Piter but there were too many points where she let Piter back in the point, even if Simona did end up winning the point a few shots later. Early in the 2nd set it even looked to me like Piter might get back in it and get at least 3 or 4 games on the board. She needs to step into the court more often and take the ball earlier to take time away from her opponent. Cut out the risk factor Simona and finish the points when you can!

Also, I'm hoping for a few more nice winners, in particular my two favourite shots of hers:
- The BHDTL (of course! Few players play this as clinically as Simona)
- The cross-court forehand winner (she hits this with such control, with beautiful shape over the net and enough topspin for it to drop sharply and hit the line; Magical!)

Hopefully, if this is a bit more competitive than the Piter match she will have the opportunity to get some rhythm going in the match and start producing the sparkling tennis more often again.

Onwards and upwards Simona! :cheer: The QF and maybe more is awaiting your presence!

Are we all heading over to Simona's scoring thread for the match to keep this thread 'clean'?
