I'm an advocate for her being 100% healthy and being rested, but I don't want her to be fully healthy, and then not play anything, and not be match tough. Not playing for over a month is a long layoff, by tennis standards. Only Serena can repeatedly do that successfully, and even she struggles at times.
You're right . But she couldn't have said : "I'll play Charleston because I'm #5 and y'all bitches shall give a WC to me right away " so it's not 100% out of the question to req. a WC here.

I'm 99% sure she will not request a WC in Charleston. More likely Katowice, although it's not played on clay.

LOL, me too! Though the rubbish TV coverage hasn't helped either.

It's especially annoying though, because looking at the form so far of Venus, Domi & Aga ... Simona should have waltzed through to the semis. Li Na & Serena haven't looked great either, but perhaps their level will pick up in the latter stages. But, if not, Simona would have had a great chance to win this. Oh well, she'll just have to do it in Stuttgart instead.

I too can't enjoy this tournament, except for watching Serena. Without Simona playing, this tournament just seems to be missing a spark.

And Stuttgart is so far away. And I fear she may wind up being rusty, because she will have gone more than a month without playing a match before Fed Cup. I just wish she'd play SOMETHING after her toenail heals. But she's already back in Romania.

Don't worry, she's fine. It was an easy injury.

Is there a Bucharest 10k event she could enter?

I have faith that the Fed Cup will be Simona's rust-shakener. Thinking of it positively, she has a good opportunity to get a great block of training in, and she will be much fresher for the clay season than the players who have pushed themselves through Miami, Charleston & wherever else. She'll be extra-hungry as well to make up ground lost in the Race to Singapore.

Re: Simona Halep Cheering thread - volume 2

Isn't Wim supposed to be with Simona some time in Romania during this long month ? it will be great opportunity to start his real coaching and additions to her game ..
would be very weird if he only joins her in Stuttgart
