Re: Simona Halep (România)

I never thought that I would say this, but the result of the match will entirely depend on Simona.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

I think it is clear simona is changing her style, she is hitting the lines. She has really good serve but she still makes some stupid mistakes.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

The question is: will she retire after she loses the first set?

Out of shame - yes.

This first set is going beyond the concept of stupidity.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

another day, another emberrassment.

I'm sounding like a broken record, but the attitude with which some of our girls go into their tennis matches makes me speakless. What do they expect from their careers? If I'd show such an attitude and performance, my boss would have kicked my ass faster out of the office than I can complain about.

Simona is having a schedule of a Top 30 player, playing Premier events day in day out and is unable to beat the living corpse of Schiavone who isn't able to generate any pace or length on her ground strokes and basically shanks every third ball on her backhand side. I really appreciate Simona's efforts to become more aggressive, but she needs assistance, it doesn't happen like that. Her game is garbage, nothing, she is playing the tennis of a brainless basher without having the power, nor the consistency.

And for this fact alone it would be so important for her to get a real coach. She also has no self-belief and no respect. If there is a coach, you don't want to disappoint him, but she has nothing an no one to fear, that's why she is pulling these tankjobs.
Begu - same story - no coach, no bite, although she has the injury excuse. Or look at Barthel, same problem.
They all want to win as much as possible, but should maybe start by learning how to lose first.

I'm tired of our girls already failing at these most basic things. On the other hand we see in Sorana's case that it's obviously already a problem to appreciate a good coach and coaching environment.

Sometimes, I wanna just grab and shake all of them.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

She'll be happy to finish the year in the first 100 players. Maybe not being able to compete in Premiers will motivate her to move things around. Seems like nothing else can at this point.

I miss seeing a Romanian player fighting in a match like there's no tomorrow. Haven't seen that since Dulgherova - Sharapova in Miami 2011. Perhaps won't see it very soon with all these girls fighting lower-back / shoulder / knee problems and their other demons as well.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

Sometimes I have the feeling that most of them are already burned out after their second year on the tour.

It's imply exhausting to follow and expect them to do something big year after year and then - nothing.

So many expectations for Marrakesh and it's one of the biggest flops in recent times with two tanks and one choke exit. Disappointing.

Re: Simona Halep (România)

Not the case with Niculescu, but so very much the case of the rest of the bunch, yeah. Except Ana Bogdan, who burned out immediately after taking the step from juniors to pros

Re: Simona Halep (România)

Monica is the exception to the rule.

There aren't as many temptations for her than for other young girls. She is a fairly independent woman, she exactly knows what to do and what not to do. She has a clear schedule, she knows what the sport demands from you and which sacrifices you have to make, always following her goals, even through the limitations the tennis world is offering us.

Yes, Monica comes really close to what I would call model athlete.
Our both Alexandras are also admirable fighters who made the most out of their capacities.
