Re: Simona's Doha 2016

As long as she continues to be buried deep behind the baseline instead of taking the game to her opponents, there's nothing to be expected here. Would love to be wrong, but her play speaks for itself.

Re: Simona's Doha 2016

Strictly speaking she isn't defending any points because she didn't play Doha last year. The 900 points from Dubai should be officially deducted from her total on Monday and she can add to her ranking points if she gets a couple of wins here.
There is little point worrying about her ranking as players around her have few points to defend during the next couple of months. It may give her some confidence to get some points here to raise her position on the road to Singapore, where she is currently 58th on the live leaderboard.
This is a round of 56 tournament and Simona may benefit from a slightly easier opponent in her first match. It's been quite a while since Simona won three matches in a row and just doing that ought to give her a better feeling about herself.
If she really is fit and healthy as she says she is, it would be good to see her seeking to put the opponent's serve under concerted pressure and take control of the scoreboard in the match.

The 900 points still balance out since she won Dubai last year as a P5, and only got first round points this year. as a P470. So she didn't lose the minimum amount of points she could have this week, which would have been 430. She was going to lose points regardless, with the chance to get those 900 points back in Doha

Re: Simona's Doha 2016

well no way she'll win any titles, in this form

i think any qualifier would want to play against Simona, then they can stand a chance of winning

i personally think Simo could even drop further out of top 20

I'm a halepeno fan, but i am realistic, she isn't gonna win any titles with this form

Re: Simona's Doha 2016

posting pictures of former trophies just rubs salt into our wounds, she couldn't win an ITF right now.

I'll echo Simona's own words, no expectations, can lose to anyone, it's normal (for a top 3 player) and hope can win few matches.

Simona [14] - Kasatkina
Aga [20] - Beck [2] - Kvitova [18]
Cetkovska - Bencic [2] - Gasparyan [1] - Cîrstea [1] - Sevastova [1]

Re: Simona's Doha 2016

Well, yup, Dubai was bad. Confidence level : close to 0 . . That BH UE from SP could have done wonders if it didn't come ...

Draw Gods, be gentle. Maybe an Al Nabhani - Buyukakcay for her R2 opponent or as many scrubs / poor form players in her section as possible. Draw is tomorrow around 4 to 6 pm Doha time.

In terms of ranking, I want the same or a better results than Muguruza (the Spaniard could withdraw though) for her to be seeded #4 in IW and Miami . Many things can happen there or maybe even until then. A few wins and the "magic" could be back and the forever bashers sent back in their cave(s) .

Yeah hopefully she gets a better draw, was really unlucky to get Ivanovic in the first match in Dubai. Not necessary Al Nabhani , obviously even in bad form she'll beat most of her opponents. Also that court is great for Simona, if she gets a bit of confidence after a good win in her first match, she can do just great there

To be fair, he was the only one not so quick to dismiss Ivanovic before the match against Simona.

Nobody was dismissing Ivanovic before this match. Most of us knew it was gonna be a tough match. But he is the one who dismisses Simona before every match she plays.
I'll take a break from this forum. No need to read all this crap.
Hai Simona!

Just as I said in the other thread @sara13

And no, it's not realism. The realistic or positive people are posting less and less .....being "banished" by the rest . At least that's how I see the situation (realistically )
.

While the confirmation might not be through public messages (if you need more "proof" than the decreased activity, normal posts / realistic / somewhat possitive and also a lot fewer viewers) , here's one from @Mytzu . But really, don't go man. That means they win. . Try to ignore as much as possible these kind of posts (as I do or try to do) and it might be better. . Also, there's always the Ignore list which you can use as an ultimate measure. Maybe I should add some too, minding I have some of the shortest one (2 ignored) among pretty active users.

Re: Simona's Doha 2016

For me, it's interesting to read different opinions. Sometimes I even change my mind.

Of course, if Simona is losing, no one is going to be too cheerful here and it's ok.

But I do mind if people are being disrespectful and this bad behaviour I've seen more than once here, @Nightcrawl3r . IMO there is no need to be rude to anyone, but maybe I'm too naive for TF.

Re: Simona's Doha 2016

Apologies if I upset anyone...

Who knows, with a good draw and a few wins next week we may be wondering why were we so worried.

I only managed to watch the beginning of the Ivanovic match and actually thought Simona played really well and surprisingly for me, was hitting her forehand pretty hard which alleviates some fears that she's hitting weaker. So there are some positive signs.

What makes it frustrating for me though is that Darren isn't with her when she needs him the most. I'd be a lot more optimistic if she had her coach with her.

If she can get a couple of wins I think she'll be ok.

I think it's the first time in all my posts when I use "STFU" because I got really pissed. Read Mytzu's post again please. And after all post, all bashing, all negative from the start, when I saw "she couldn't even with an ITF" I just felt for that (and all the rest) , the STFU was well deserved (maybe even more) .

No one says we should be happy or act like "go go our champ, we love you <3 " or shit like that , but the posts from the last period (from a few users especially) are negative / bashing before the tournaments, before the matches, throughout the matches, after the matches ... ALL THE TIME ! And it's too much . I'm very close to extending my Ignore List rather than leaving like @Mytzu (again: don't do it) and many others ......
