Re: World Junior Tennis Finals, U14, Czech Republic

Bellis/Liu d. Vondrousova/Slovakova 67(2) 62 76(5)

Bellis/Liu led 4-1 and 5-3 in the third and then the Czechs served for it at 6-5 only to be broken at love. What a match.

The Russians will be a tough nut to crack, CiCi is going to have to play extremely well to carry this team. Hopefully the team captain (whoever it is) makes the smart decision and puts Liu instead of Gordon against Zhuk. Not that I think it will matter much either way...

2016 Titles:
Tennis Tipping: (S) ITF Toronto | (D) Dalian (w/ Nottheone), ITF Bendigo (w/ Randy)
Suicide: Strasbourg, Tashkent, Hong Kong

Re: World Junior Tennis Finals, U14, Czech Republic

Good final, Russia maybe slight favorites? Zhuk should be favorite in her singles, Bellis and Levashova should be close, and Russia probably with an edge in doubles as Levashova/Anshba have won tournaments together.

I think it's a very fitting final too. Russia/USA have a lot of quality/depth of players in this age group. I think Russia should win but meh who knows.

I guess Zhuk/Levashova will be playing? They have been winning practically everything they've played the past couple of months.

Re: World Junior Tennis Finals, U14, Czech Republic

I think it will depend of the doubles. I think Bellis will win her match, but i think it will be difficult that Liu or Gordon pull a surprise against Zhuk

Re: World Junior Tennis Finals, U14, Czech Republic

Well, i expected a better result for Spain, but at least Paula won all her matches (except the three setter with Wong), and today won agains her nemesis Dalila Said (Dalila generally plays in spain and both had a very tight head to head)

Re: World Junior Tennis Finals, U14, Czech Republic

When I saw the Canada/India/Spain/Peru group I believed it was kind of a weak group but apart from Peru all ties were very tight and in fact India won the 5-8 play-offs and Spain the 9-12 play-offs. Actually, it was probably one of the strongest groups while Group 2 was a complete letdown with Italy and Great Britain sucking big time even losing with Japan and Egypt in the later play-offs

Italy will fight with tomorrow against Peru for the #15 spot

Pranjala, 5-0 at first singles A shame she didn't get a match against Bellis or Levashova.

Whoever loses between Italy and Peru will cost their region an entry in next year's WJT finals. Would be so unexpected to see Europe having to give up a spot

Don't worry, Peru has lost all 12 matches it has played during this tournament (1-24 in sets). It would be the shock of the century if Italy manages to lose somehow.

BTW, what kind of teams did Argentina and Brazil send to the regional zone not to qualify while Peru did?
