Re: Mona Barthel

Bad performance today from Mona, serve was not working at all and she also couldn´t take her chances at *42 in 2nd set, quite disappointing as Makarova was definitely beatable!
But well, she isn´t experienced enough yet, I guess, was for sure tough for her after her big win against Jankovic before, not easy to handle such situations, she can only learn from such defeats and make it better next time.
She obviously still plays a great season so far!

Re: Mona Barthel

schade, aber auch hier kein beinbruch...wir wissen alle wozu makarowa gerade bei großen turnieren in der lage ist, siehe ao 2011,12 und vor allem birmingham 2010...

Re: Mona Barthel

That was nearly a similar situation like last year at the US Open, beating a seeded player with Martinez-Sanchez and then lost against Scheepers.

Re: Mona Barthel

It's a little bit disappointed, maybe she was not able to play her best Tennis today. Makarova is not a bad player so it's not a shame to lose against her, but the result could be a little bit closer But anyway, Miami was a good tournament for Barthel

Re: Mona Barthel

I feel sad of course but there's no need to be ashamed. It's not like Makarova hasn't beat other top players before and we all have bad days. Where's Mona playing next btw?

Thanks I hope it will be at least streamed. I can't wait to actually see her playing again.

Her tournament schedule after Miami:

Week off, Copenhagen, Fed Cup or Week off, Stuttgart (Qualifying or WC), Estoril, Madrid

Re: Mona Barthel

Mona's play is unstable. She can win against Jankovich and then loose to a player situeted below her in the ranking. If everything goes ok she wins a match if not she isnt capable to fight against all odds. That's what I like in Andrea Petkovich that's what lacks Mona - fighting spirit, to hope, to fight to the last point even if she has a bad day.

Really? I think just the opposit. She has won mostly every time she was the favorit player. If she had not played against Vika every tournament, she would have been some more victories now. No fighting spirit? What player do you mean? Definitely not Mona

Re: Mona Barthel

I think I kinda understand the point but then again I don't. I mean if we talk about fighting spirit, just think of the previous match against Vika.
