Mona in Asia

Scheduled to play Guangzhou, Wuhan qualifying and Beijing qualifying. She'll probably play Linz/Luxembourg too

Her draw in Guangzhou is good to be honest. But she's been really struggling lately

Re: Mona in Asia

Not a bad draw but we´ll see, Lu is experienced and with decent ITF results mostly (beat Jankovic and Diyas as well recently), Mona should win that but u can´t be too confident in general, last win from July, no matches won on hardcourt since this summer at all, it´s about time for some better results again

Re: Mona in Asia

Guangzhou round one MESS: Mona Barthel wins six consecutive games to beat Lu Jingjing 6-0 4-6 6-3

What did I watch ?

Mona was a set and a break up and lost second set 6-4...Then was down 0-3 in the third missing everything. Last six games she played well

Honestly that would have been tragic if she lost to Lu. A win is a win, I'll take it

Re: Mona in Asia

A bagel at the beginning and at the end

Just glad she won a match again. The only part I watched was the third set until 0-3 and Mona was TRAGIC. Never thought she could turn it around
Now and Zen likes this.

I thought she was going to retire down 3-0...she was walking like a zombie. It's very hot/humid, as she had ice towels wrapped around her

Re: Mona in Asia

oh well, happy that I was not able to watch it, I checked scores and saw that she had an early break but she often played a good 1st set lately and then totally fell apart but happy that she was able to turn it around somehow in 3rd set, a win is a win

I hope that she is fit again for her next match, Zombie Mona surely wouldn´t have a chance against Krunic, tough match, she surely has to improve!

Re: Mona in Asia

46 06 to Krunic, as expected unfortunately

I hope that she will be able to play better tennis soon, she looks fit, gained some weight, mind seems to be the problem right now mostly, it´s just that she is unable to find the right gamestyle for her and she obviously lacks confidence right now also after her latest performances...

Her serve has been really erratic lately. Just too many double faults

Re: Mona in Asia

Mona vs qualifier in the first round of Wuhan. Couldn't have asked for a better first round match

Re: Mona in Asia

Mona will play Puig tomorrow!
Puig is quite unpredictable, Mona beat her in Melbourne but that match was a mess, I guess it will depend on if Puig turns into an UE machine as often or not!

Re: Mona in Asia

lost 67 16 to Cirstea in Beijing, good that the season is over soon, hope she finds some better form during the off season, I don´t have much hope anymore for better results in 2017....
