Re: 2016 Road to Wimbledon

Eastbourne Q list isn't out yet so maybe Mona won't play here, I just included it for now because she played here last year.

Re: 2016 Road to Wimbledon

^^ It is out now and Mona is indeed on the Q-List from Eastbourne also, we´ll see if she will be able to play all those tournaments, I hope that her body is strong enough for regular matches again!!

Was such a nice feeling to be back on court after such a long time. Getting stronger every day... On my way to Nottingham for my next tournament.

WTA Nottingham:
R1: Mona-Alison Riske

That's one of the toughest non-seeded opponents. Riske is really good on grass.

indeed, tough draw, could have been much easier, we´ll see how it goes, good luck anyway, hope she can improve from tournament to tournament.

Re: 2016 Road to Wimbledon

2-6, 1-6.
Riske is a good grass player, Mona obviously is not.
She looked pretty much tired, clueless and rusty in this one from the beginning, was hardly able to return and never close to a breakpoint.
Still a long way back ahead, it could become a lost year for her.
Hopefully Mona slowly will find some better form and consolidation in the currency of the season and then actually get started in the next one.

Mona It is indeed a long road for her. But she should take all the time she needs.

Re: 2016 Road to Wimbledon

expected result but I couldn´t watch anything of it unfortunately.
It´s good that she is able to play again and now she hopefully gets a bit better from match to match, grass never was her best surface anyway.
In January I was annoyed that Hannelore is her only coach again but that´s not important anymore right now...for now it´s important that she gets back to decent shape again, that she gets 100% fit again and healthy and then hopefully will find the right coach for her again..well, maybe Hannelore is the right coach for her but I personally doubt it as Mama Barthel has zero tennis knowledge unfortunately

Re: 2016 Road to Wimbledon

That's actually good news. Others would play on and finally get injured.
It's not worth it, especially on a surface like grass.

Mona is a wise person, and she knows what's best for her.

Re: 2016 Road to Wimbledon

Best news would have been if she would have said that she feels good and healthy again and that she just needs more matches but of course, it´s good that she withdew from Mallorca and Eastbourne when her body is just not ready for it yet, I just hope that it does not get worse again and that her body just needs a bit more time.

I guess she will play Wimbledon for sure, if somehow possible, but can´t expect her to win a match there (but we still can hope obviously), the real comeback starts then on clay again after Wimbledon!

Gstaad and then I am sure that she will play Bastad also...
