Re: Kurumi Nara - Japan's New Star

Very sad result for Kurumi, I was following live scores and praying for at least a game That's a lovely picture of her, Sugi.

Re: Kurumi Nara - Japan's New Star

Good luck

She is on the entry list of another clay court challenger next week, then Copenhagen. Given some of her results on clay, I'd have thought it would have been better to have taken part on the Nottingham challengers on grass, but good luck anyway.

Definitely agree she should have been playing on grass these last couple of weeks. Come on Kurumi, get some momentum going.

Re: Kurumi Nara - Japan's New Star

Kurumi has a really tough draw at Wimbledon Quallies. I'd be surprised if she wins her first round. Her quarter is loaded with good grass courters in better form and more confidence, such as Pliskova and Arina Rodionova. I'm going tomorrow so will try and catch a part of her match.

Re: Kurumi Nara - Japan's New Star

Great win for Kurumi. I only caught the final game but she was playing really well which surprised me, and seemed really confident. She served two aces in a row to close out the match. From what I saw today her recent losses are surprising. Rodionova will be a stern test however.

Re: Kurumi Nara - Japan's New Star

Rodionova def. Nara 64 63

Rodionova has been in good form but still a shame. Kurumi's ranking will plummet now, as she had second round points. At least she hasn't got much to defend now all year...

Congratulations! Kurumi, Congratulations! Team Japan!
Japan were rewarded with a home clash against Slovenia next year.
