She is definitely in Dubai as she sent a tweet yesterday saying so. Hopefully not a late withdrawal. Fingers crossed she has a MDWC, I believe the only one that has so far been announced is Bartoli.
According to Jorn she withdrew a while ago, must have been a day or so after her Doha loss. So perhaps she was injured in Doha? Who knows! Tough start to year for Laura, hasn't been able to capitalize on having few points to defend at this point.
Hopefully her year will pick up soon? IW next scheduled stop.
EDIT: just saw the tweet you mentioned, this it all too confusing...
ERGH i hope she's not injured, her ranking is going to plummet now if she's not earning any points . I need to do some research to see what's going on. She said she was already in Dubai so it's confusing that she's now withdrawn...
Great news on the WC, though am I the only one that thinks qualies might have been useful to get matches under her belt? Even tho it is a really tough qualies draw..interesting, wasn't expecting her to get a WC. Wonder why they gave it to her. Good news tho!

Yeah the more I think about it, the more I think the WC is a mistake...she really needs matches at this point and would have been seeded in qualies. She would have been 7th seed rather than Zheng meaning her section would have been:
(3)Vesnina v Mattek-Sands
(wc)Bychkova v Rodionova
Morita v Dushevina
(wc)Woerle v (7)Zheng (Robson)
Definitely some winnable matches there. Vesnina tough to qualify but she'll go into the MD unseeded, who wants to bet on a top seed in the first round? xD Although as someone mentioned in GM a first round against Kuzzy would be fun

I hope Laura has a good run here to build up some confidence before the IW/Miami swing. Although its such a tough field here a 1r loss wouldn't be too surprising.
She plays Putintseva the other wildcard in R1
Petra Kvitova [6] - Qualifier
Ana Ivanovic - Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova
Laura Robson [WC] - Yulia Putintseva [WC]
Agnieszka Radwanska [3] - Bye
Well it could have been worse! Though Aga in R2 wouldn't be fun! Total miss match up of style....Anyway R1 could be tough, Laura should win on paper, but with the form she's in and the weird (and unusual) pressure of playing a player younger than her this might not be a fun match.
C'mon Laura, really need to win this, 60 points for a R1 win would be much appreciated. Why do I have such a bad feeling?
'Laura had a mixture of pieces stolen, some of great sentimental value and other pieces that she has bought for herself or been given as presents,' said her friend.
Well, I wanted to know, I assume we all want to know, what the value of the jewellery was, was it more Garrards or Ratners? The Mail contacts one of Laura's friends who says, by implication, that what was stolen did have value. And then you come along and tell me that The Mail just made up the "friend" and the story is completely worthless. Am I that naive? One thing is for certain, someone is very cynical, I'm just not sure whether it's you or The Mail.
