Hopefully the surgery went well though. It's all about the recovery now. Didn't expect her to have it so fast. Thought it was arranged for next month or something.
That was fast! Wishing her an equally speedy recovery.

Didn't think it was surprising to be honest. Laura had obviously looked at her options extensively and even sought advice from Del Potro. There's no point waiting really because it would just be a waste of time when she's already decided. After the announcement I half thought that she might have been flying to the Mayo Clinic the next day!

Hope the recovery goes well. A brave decision to have the surgery so early in her career although maybe it couldn't be helped - not too dissimilar to Muguruza's situation.

That Instagram video is hul-arious! glad to see she's still joking around despite being in obvious pain/discomfort.

Alrighty then. Toast stresses her out.

Wonder how long the wrist will need to be in a cast.

Bad, if not unexpected, news.

The Wimbledon entry list is out...

http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/news/...244235491.html

...and it's missing the world number 76, Laura Robson.

Konta and Watson are both in the MD.

@laurarobson5

I've seen some gross things in my time but nothing could prepare me for what my skin looked like after 6 weeks in a cast.

Yeah I was hoping she would give us a little more information regarding her wrist appointment. "Healing slowly but surely" is the extent of it.

As long as she didnt say she will be out for the rest of the season we should think she will be back soon

The skin is just cosmetic and a few days of fresh air will put it right. After 6 weeks in a cast, Laura will have significant muscle loss in her forearm and this will take weeks to get back, on top of the physio & rehabilitation of the wrist & tendons.

Even when the arm & wrist are about ready, how long does it take to get her game back together?
They only have about a month off in November then tennis pros are back training and hitting for many hours a day in preparation for the new season. Wouldn't you expect at least 3 months of physical rehab and preparation before full match fitness is achieved?

Re: Laura Robson: The Silver Medal Years 2012-

At this point I'd rather she just comes back next season. No point rushing anything - take as much time as she needs, and start afresh in 2015.

Apparently Laura is set to join the BBC team for their Wimbledon coverage this year. So I'm guessing she won't be back for a while yet but it'll be good to see and hear her on TV.

Re: Laura Robson: The Silver Medal Years 2012-

If you are an up and coming tennis professional aiming for the top then there is only one thing worse than seeing your BFF win a Slam before you, and that is seeing your ex-BFF win a slam before you.

Genie B has all the control and discipline that Laura lacks & does everything right but somehow I find her uninspiring to watch.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a maiden Slam - then again Mlle Sharapova has just levelled at 1 set all so there is a way to go yet. Laura will soon have about 100 places to make up on Genie so lets hope her career takes off next year.

Edit

After a total collapse in Genie's game Laura still has a chance of beating her to a maiden slam.

If wishes were horses ....
