That is the least japanese name I've ever heard of in a japanese player
Let's take a guess, French Dad moves to Japan, loves Japanese women, get married and decide to live in Japan with his Japanese wife permanently, have a half French half Japanese kid, takes fathers French name but has Japanese nationality and represents Japan on the tour?
Anyway, sad that Rika couldn't qualify here, she does so well on the Grass and really deserves it after clawing her ranking up since the end of last year. She just needs a lucky couple of draws if she can qualify in the higher 50/75K tournys.
Isn't it just astroturf (AKA artifical grass)?? Its sand spread throughout it, not clay. Growing up in Northern UK the courts I played at were made of this stuff and you absolutely can slide on it. IT's very slippery.
Can anyone translate what Mari Osaka says here? I'm guessing Osaka sisters aren't very comfortable speaking in Japanese? The tournament has a pretty good youtube channel and facebook page btw, even though their website seems broken.
