Payment in Minsk ...
The tournament in Minsk play was not my first choice and I noticed that! Immediately after the flight the trouble started . I would pay 90 euros for the visa , it was confirmed in the Netherlands . After much discussion , I had to go back to pay the double amount to get into the country! After waiting for passport control for an hour, I was sent back again! I also had to pay additional costs for insurance.
Eventually I was able to go and get my luggage and finally arrived at the hotel , which was already on the expensive side ( 94 USD/night). In the hotel my next setback came : the price of the hotel was suddenly 125 USD .. The tournament director told me over the phone that prices were " variable " and so I was going to make $ 125 per night for a hotel that would have had less than 0.5 stars in Netherlands. Let's hope that the tennispark has more to offer . The next morning I fell into the following surprise : the park had four matchcourses ( of 4 in total) , no food or drink arrangements , fitness for which you had to pay this week and no one spoke a word of English ! I must admit that I had had not followed a Russian language course before I went to Minsk , so communicating was difficult . Eventually I found a restaurant about 750 meters from the club , where I ate every afternoon and evening .
Next problem was that you had no idea what the current situation (scoreline) was on the court where you had to play . The day before I had to play, I was also simply informed about the hotel being fully booked from Wednesday, so we suddenly had to go find something else ! How can a hotel, with over 300 rooms and which also happened to be the only players hotel, suddenly be full from Wednesday!
After that some standard match report about her having to retire with a back injury.
