It seems after all these matches over the last couple of months, if anything, Kimiko is getting stronger.
This was a big one though. With this win, Kimiko has successfully defended all her ranking points she made last year on the Autumn ITF circuit, something that really didn't seem possible a few weeks ago.
If Kimiko can win that final she will actually have GAINED points over last years tremendous end of the year finish. Who would have thought that would be possible at the start of Limoges some 7 and a half weeks ago when she was coming in having lost in the 1st round of her last 10 tournaments. This really has been the most wonderful and uplifting turnaround in results. Just amazing.
Kimiko should just stick to the Grand Slams and all tournaments from October onwards...
Actually I'm pretty hopeful that Kimiko can make next year much more successful than this year was prior to the last couple of months.
The one thing in her schedule I would change is that beside RG I think she should skip the WTA clay season and instead play some of those Japanese ITFs on superfast courts that take place at the same time. Last year Kimiko played one such event, which she won easily but then came back to play some of the clay ITFs in Europe and that didn't go well and it cost her a place in the Olympics too. Really hope she doesn't make that mistake again next year. But besides that, I think her schedule is fine.
