Rybarikova's attitude as awful as usual. Gurl, STFU and play!

Then again ... Monica was hitting the felt out of the ball, so there's that.

I did too. The courts there have a low bounce & very fast speed. Monica's speed let her get to balls early. She's definitely able to put some pep behind those groundies. Her serve was also strong, with some good service winners.

Well disappointed in Magda but it has to be said she didn't exactly deserve to win. Nor did she handle herself very well emotionally either and overall I don't think today is a day she will look back on with any pride.

Monica Puig played very well I must say. Easy to see why she is on a really good roll right now. I wouldn't say her groundstrokes are anything spectacular but she rarely misses and she covers a hell of a lot of ground. And she hits to a good length as well. Consistency and strong court coverage. That's combination that can win you a lot of matches on the tour. She's obviously not a tall girl but 5'7" is tall enough and I really don't see any reason she shouldn't have an excellent career. Oh the other thing that struck me about her body language and demeanor is her positivity. She really conveys a feeling that she wants to be out there competing and is eager to do well. Sad to say, that contrasted to Magda rather starkly. As long as this girl keeps working hard, and yeah the attitude suggests she will, and she has a good team behind her and she isn't unlucky with injuries I would say, top 50 would be the minimum one would expect her to get to. But she could go quite a bit further too, who knows?

It is my belief that Mo will reach top 100 by the end of January 2013, top 50 by the summer of 2013, and will be top 25 by the end of 2013. She is a very hard working tennis professional, has an excellent coach
and back up team, and has a very good nature and likable personality.
We wish her the best of luck in her chosen carrer.

Agree. IMO Magda is one of the biggest underachievers of the game. Who knows where she would be now if her career wasn't ruined with so many injuries
But you know, its never too late.
