Are either of the Inoue's in the draw related to Etsuko Inoue? She used to be the only Top 50 Japanese woman a long time ago (80's, I think). I remember I saw Steffi beat her in the first round of the U.S. Open, and Etsuko impressed me with her scrambling (I think Graf won 6-3, 6-2)... And I wonder what Kimiko Date is doing these days, and also Naoko Sawamatsu too.

Tommy, nice of you to remember Etsuko. She was ranked as high as the 20s, and is also the current Fed Cup Captain. Now goes by the surname of Kaneshiro. However, Haruka and Maiko aren't related to her. Inoue is pretty common.

Ito d. Q-Fuda 6-4 6-0
Q-Takagishi d. WC-Nakamura 3-6 6-1 6-2

WC-Komori d. 5-Kitamura 6-3 2-6 7-6(?)
4-Aoyama d. WC-Ozaki 6-3 2-6 6-3

Poor Maiko. SHe lost to this Okamoto girl, who seems good as she beat Shiho as well. Good luck to Haruka and Okamoto.

1-H Inoue d. LL-Nakajima 6-3 7-5
4-Aoyama d. Okamoto 6-4 7-5

Congrats Kaori!
Good luck in the final tomorrow.
Haruka's always beaten her comfortably, but they haven't played in awhile. It should be a closer match this time.
