Incredibly weak field. Paris, even since the addition of the Middle East swing, has been able to put together stronger fields than this.

Blame Fed Cup.

Not many top players are interested in playing right after AO.

Had been better it was played after Fed Cup as userly, but not that weak imo. (Even no Top players here...)

It was pretty much the same entry list last year except Sharapova who is not playing this year .

I wouldn't say it's much different to recent years. When I went back in 2010, I'm fairly sure Wickmayer, at #15, was the No.3 seed! Of course there will be a few withdrawals if players go deep in AO doubles (Errani, Venus, Hradecka etc).
