That's a shame after winning that 2nd set TB, but then quickly 2 breaks down in the 3rd
Did not have any expectations before Wimbledon, but knowing how well she is able to play when healthy I always get my hopes up Still a nice win in R1 against JJ and Shvedova on grass is not an easy opponent.
She is now #69 at the moment, if Vekic beats Zvonareva she will be 70th, other need at least 2 wins to surpass Kaia. I was afraid things could be lot worse. Now she has USO R3, Beijing R2, ITF 75K R2 and Moscow R1, this is 257 points to defend til the end of the year.
This year she is finally planning to play tournaments between Wimbledon-USO, last time she did it was in 2010 She hasn't played a tournament in July for 4 years!
About this match, what annoyed me was Shvedova often delaying before serving, bouncing the ball, catching it and what else, esp on the 2nd serve. But maybe that's just me
I hope she'll play next week. Considering the win in r1 and the way she somehow won that 2nd set, maybe the things are looking better..
Hopefully she can go an ITF run like she did a few years ago to get that confidence back She can easily get back into Top 50 with good results at the 2 100Ks
Seems like the win against Jankovic in R1 was just a fluke. Kaia is still completely out of form. And let`s be honest Jankovic played very bad tennis, so it was not that difficult to beat her. Also Kaia was the underdog and had no pressure. What were Kaia`s words after the match ?
About loss to Shvedova
Kaia's own words: "She served very well today and played aggressively. I had also many break point opportunities in the first set but could not convert them. I did not serve as well as I did in the first round match. When the serve does not work, then it is very difficult to play on grass with the style I have. I think that my serve was deciseve today."
Kovinic could be very tough, as could Dulgheru... This having been said, Kaia's Wimbledon was still solid IMO and she has done well on the ITF in the past so getting through this section is probable IMO
She was close to losing to Sanesi
At least when she got her game going, it was an easy ride to the end. It is always tough for her to move from one surface to another, hopefully she got the right feeling and is more confident in her next match. Dulgheru will be tough to beat for sure.
Thank god Kaia found her serve at the right time. It would have been terrible, if she had lost to Sanesi... But it was like a practice match and I think she needs those kinds of matches to find her form. Next is Dulgheru, it will be tough, but I hope Kaia can take the win.
I saw it was 2-2 and to tell you the truth I was actually kinda happy Didn't expect this but it is really appropriate  Hopefully she can continue on
