Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

From the training pictures Kaia looks very happy and relaxed, which is great to see. She is currently training 3 times a day. in the morning and in the evening playing tennis during afternoon working out in the gym.

Today there's a funny article about Kaia in a local newspaper. It's just a quick snippet of her inteview with a women magazine in Estonia, stating she wishes to have minimum of 3 kids This is her future plan once she's over 30

Good luck Kaia and Anett in 2014.
Also Wozniacki, Jankovic, Ivanovic, Stosur, Gajdosova and K-Kookie!!

Which magazine?

I thought the photoshoot was kind of random Sometimes they have no news to make indeed but at the moment athletics is pretty hot topic.

I tried to translate everything on there. My brain is a bit off right now, so might find some trasnlation errors, but I'm sure my Estonian posters will correct me where I'm off

„My life has never been better“ says Kaia Kanepi after her first ever WTA tour title win"

„I'm playing good tennis. Winning. No pressure in personal life, feel great and free. I can be who I want.“

Kanepi is happy and relaxed after a day-long trip from Palermo to home. No sign of fatigue and an off day coming up. „I can't be in peace in Tallinn. A lot going on. Apartment needs cleaning and ... on Wednesday again starting with practise, since in three weeks a long US tour will start“ admits Kanepi as she sips her black coffee. „During the weekend I'll head over to Haapsalu, there I can zone myself out completely from the rest of the world“

3 trophies and a tray/plate

Kanepi's life is a dream. Sunday evening won her first ever WTA tour title in Palermo, with which came 37,000 USD in prize money, 3 trophies and a tray. „I didn't understand italian, so don't know why so many trophies were given“ smiles Kanepi. But since those were given, it means everything has to be carried home. The biggest tropy luckly can be split, otherwise wouldn't have fitted in the bag.

If Kanepi - the winner is beaming, then what does Kanepi - the loser look like?„Well ofcourse I'm not beaming then. I talk very little, think alot. No, I don't break things. In General. It has to be a really bad defeat, which comes from a very bad play. I don't curse or insult others, if, then only myself.“

It seems, that Kanepi is not overjoyeus. Atleast she doesn't drop on the court after a great win. Or?„Winning a Grand Slam Title might be something special“ not being convinced, that she can contain her emotions in every situation. „I don't plan to throw myself on the court, If I drop, I drop“

Free of pressure and gets to be who she is

To herself Kanepi belives she's playing the best tennis of her life. „I won a tournament. Passed the qualification round twice at the Grand Slams for the first time. Reaching Wimbledon quarterfinal and on grass. Why? "I'm more stabile, make less mistakes and I don't take so many risks. I'm not afraid of long rallies to win a point. Serve is not as powerful as before, but is more accurate."

And it seems her form is good also – Kanepi brings balls, which she wouldn't even dream of running down, back in to play now.

"That's right! My form is also the best I've had in my life! My physio trainer has done an amazing job."

Mental side?

„Excellent! Last year I kept losing, gathered pressure like a sponge. Now I'm strain free. Still no reason for peace however. I'm still not in the TOP10 of the world. Still work to be done. Need to be even better and those wins don't come easily, eventhough the situation looks good right now. Opponents don't give up. In each match both have their opportunities, one uses them, other doesn't.“

A few months of collaboration with a amatuer tennis player Silver Karjus has brought the realization- she has a trainer, so no need to search for a new one. „I am very satisfied with Silver and can not ask for more. He helps me menthally and improves my game. He is capable to handle everything.“

„I have no personal life, have only tennis.“

Kanepi is convinced, that if a limit is being reached, both the trainer and the player understand this and will consider new improvements to be made.

Game is set, spirit is high, how about private life?

„I don't have any private life, only tennis“ laughs Kanepi and adds that she's not thinking of getting married. „I am not currently looking for someone special. I'm focused on my carreer.“
Thanks for this interesting article.
Good to hear Kaia believes in herself and has high ambitions!

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Kaia answered some questions... Here they are part one...
1.What are your targets for this season? Kaia: my goal is to show good level of tennis and finish year in TOP 20. I will give my best at each tournament I enter. Still Slams are my goal and also year-ending championships 2. Who has given you credit the most from opponents?Kaia: ...Serena Williams has always complimented meJ 3. What is the importance of physical preparation for you now? You have lost weight. Which surface requieres the best shape? What is your ideal weight for tennis?Kaia: Importnace has grown massively; you must be in very good shape for clay as the matches are rather long and your stamina has to be good. Hard court is also tough towards your body; few kilos more and then I am in ideal shapeJ 4.What are your personal best in 60m, 100m sprints? Do you love to run?Kaia: It has never been measured but control runs are measured. I love to runJ 5. Please describe you physical preparation?Kaia: Its functional e.g I develop those muscle groups that are weaker. Also I put lot of effort on balance, coordination, power, prompt speed and speed stamina. 6. At this moment you have great list of strikes you use. Is there any other you want to pick up?Kaia: I would rather concentrate on quality of those I have now. So not any specific new strike. 7. What is your favourite Slam? Why? Kaia: US OPEN. Cause of it’s special atmosphere and I fancy it’s climate as well. 8. What is your favourite/least suitable WTA event? Why? Kaia: Favourite:ACAPULCO, I like the place, climate again is super suitable for me, also the fact it is a combined event, it makes it special.I struggle a loti n Birmingham as it rains there often and it brakes my rhytm.See more

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

I'm freakin' flippin here that Kaia won. Peer has been a tough cookie for her in the past, so thrilled she won this one. I so want her to win also R2 and get to R3 against Clijsters. Then we could see how ready she is for US Open against the big guns. Clijsters is a bit shaky at the moment but still she is one of the best hard-courters in my opinion.

Good luck Kaia and Anett in 2014.
