This gives me hope Kaia can overcome her slump and get a win against Jankovic
You can also see the inverse that both Jurgen and Anett both should have won but choked

But seriously, I have a surprisingly good feeling about Kaia I had a good feeling about Anett and that almost panned out when I woke up this morning...

You were right

And looking back at those scorelines we were actually not so far from having all our three players in R2

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

So happy for Kaia! She was so confident and played so well

Now against Shvedova who beat Kris Pliskova 8-6 in 3rd set.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Well done Kaia. She was hitting the ball nicely today. The Empress had no clue how to break Kaias serve, even when Kaia helped (DF on match point). Last year Kaia struggeled against Tara Moore, winning 7:5 in the third. Today she was full of confidence and this win over a top 10 player will (I hope) only give her more confidence and good emotions. Now against Shvedova. She struggeled with Pliskova. Hope Kaia keeps her form. Good luck!!!

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Terrific stats!
28 to 13!
And not broken once!
But of course the DF on the MP, what else.
Just so well played.

Next is Shvedova. I hope she can keep it up. But nothing's sure.

I guess I was

I think what you mean is that all players should have won

I have such mixed feelings when Kaia plays like this. On the one hand I am so so happy because she is so beautiful to watch when she is playing well and just dominates everyone, but at the same time it makes me remember all of her bad moments and I wait anxiously for her either to get injured or go into a form hole again If she played like this for even half a year she'd be Top 10 At least this puts to rest the issue of who's better: Kaia or Anett I was surprised not to see Anett there actually, as last year she watched a few of her matches IIRC

Anyway, hopefully she can continue to reap the rewards of getting rid of the highest ranked player in her quarter and also do some good things in Doubles

Nono, Estonians are emotionless It's so cold here that pointless smiling takes too much energy

Oh I know Estonians are very reserved But I meant that the fact that he showed support for an Estonian indicates a level of patriotism that wasn't possible for the old Meelis

I am surprised why Estonians are so "closed" (I mean that with no offence). They are so nice once you get to know them but even my relatives are often on the edge of outraged at how outspoken I am to people in public. It's such a contrast to many parts of Sydney where Italian communities dominate. Catching a bus in Tallinn and in my neighbourhood, you would think they were different species of people Although the young people seem more alive now At least my relatives, the few friends I have there, some of you guys and Anett

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Kaia’s own words: “I was positively surprised that I managed to play so well during the entire match, considering that I have not had good rhythm lately. I did not have any pressure today and this is when I play my best tennis.

When I serve well, as I did today, the grass court suits my style well. You have to be aggressive from the beginning of the point and move your opponent around. I have positive memories form court number 2 as I won against Kerber at the same court last year. I also like when there is a big crowd watching my matches, it creates a great vibe of a good competition.”
