Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

I watched her match versus duval live too.

Pretty average, and a classic choke when trying to put away the first set, she plays so defensively when trying to close it out

Are you delusional... She ended the match with a backhand on the line and the 1st Set with a very deep backhand plus played aggressively the whole time If I hadn't seen all of her matches I wouldn't have picked her as a choke

All I remember is Kaia being up 5-0 or 5-1 with SP, then taking 20 min to win the set Classic Kaia.

She did play well to close the match though.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Kaia plays doubles with Voracova. They got Peers/Rajicic in R1, then probably Errani/Vinci.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

I think it's a perfect draw for her. Slams are supposed to be difficult. Kaia is a slow starter always so hopefully now with a tough R1 she will re-focus and start with a bang. Also you never know how fresh Garbi is. She took Hobart seriously while the rest had a practice run for AO. if Kaia gets through R1 she can beat Caro and even Aga right now, since she is clearly not good right now.

Good luck Kaia and Anett in 2014.
Also Wozniacki, Jankovic, Ivanovic, Stosur, Gajdosova and K-Kookie!!

Yes it would be nice for her to complete that QF collection Hopefully she can win some matches because she has never been that successful in Melbourne

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Kaia is playing tomorrow, 3rd match on court 7, which is not televised I think. Will be a tough match, but Muguruza might be a bit drained after her success in Hobart..

Very difficult R1 opponent with Muguruza who is on fire. But honestly it all depends on Kaia. If she plays well, she will beat her. To reach Aus Open R3 is a must, anything less would be disappointing. Then Wozniacki who is far away from her #1 form. And in R4 could wait Aga who is beatable too. Kaia simply has to move her feet, stay consistent, keep her focus, serve well and play her best tennis on the important points. The draw is great to go far. Come on !

Based on the stats she only played decently in Set 2

I understand that Muguruza won Hobart but that is still a bad loss... I mean from what I saw of Garbine in Hobart Kaia would still have beaten her in every match and it seems she played averagely here... She has never played well in heat so I am not surprised that the Sets were so one sided but this constant doing well in warmups and then stuffing up at the AO is becoming very disappointing

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Such a shame, really The first set went maybe too quickly. In the 2nd Muguruza was making more mistakes too (but from stats Kaia started to find the court more often too). Shame about the 3rd set There was a break between the sets, probably someone went to the bathroom and whatnot. Shame, shame, shame.
See you in Fed Cup, I guess

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

She and Voracova won their R1 in doubles over Rajicic/Peers 63 61
But next up are first seeds Errani/Vinci

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

If Kaia was playing with a really good partner they could win that

There was a mandatory 10 minute break due to heat
