Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

OMG I am so happy I got home and opened the stream when Kerber was leading 10 in the tb. Unfortunately I had to leave and didn't see the 3rd set.
Was this match really that good as the stats show?

Next is Riske who beat Ula 46 63 64. Riske definitely is not an easy opponent on grass but after today's win I would be disappointed if Kaia loses

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Hey, Kanepi fans, congrats from a Kvitova stan. Saw the last set. Your girl played GOAT.

I hope we can see a rematch of the 2010 QF she played with Petra. And frankly, I almost hope Kanepi wins the whole thing at Petra's expense. It might teach her the benefits of getting in shape. Which Kaia has definitely done!

"I really have friends on the tour, and I'm really happy for it. ...I remember when I was young and someone told my father that I'm too nice for tennis. So I'm just glad that I can be nice off the court and fighting on the court." — Petra Kvitova, May 8, 2005

Many thanks. I will never forget this match against Petra in 2010. It was just great.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

The 2nd set was definitely good, although I was too nervous to sit back and enjoy it

Riske is one tough cookie. Always playing well on grass, a very dangerous player.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

After seeing the match vs Moore I didn't think she'd win this but she pulled through and did a great job It's a real pity she's in the top half but a quarter final would be a brilliant result! Well done Kanepi and I'm sure all you guys in this cheering thread must be delighted

Resident fan of the ever slumping Karolina Wozniacki.

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

I'm so thrilled for her!

I was at college on a school computer watching this match.
At 6-6 in the tiebreak the moderator turned my PC off because I was watching a stream

My phone battery was dead so I couldn't check if she won until I was home

If only she was in the other half of the draw.. OH WELL

Lets make the QF and no regrets!!!

Re: Kaia Kanepi Cheering Thread!!!

Great comeback and win yesterday
Was scared when she got broken when served for the match at 5-1 and hit a DF at MP. And Kerber came back to 5-3, but thank god she was able to finish it

Unexpected result, especially after her struggle in R1

good post, thanks. that QF match broke many hearts at the time.

speaking of fitness, her physical 'makeover' would appear surprising, given she had been a pro athlete for almost a decade before she started serious work on fitness. how did she get overweight in the first place being a pro is perhaps explained by the lack of professional attitude and poor coaching in the early part of her career. she has had coaches come and go, but the physio she signed up in 2010 has been with her since then.

kaia's injuries of late sure have smth to do with her having been overweight for a good number of years as a pro. so this fitter and lighter frame of hers will hopefully last longer and finally give kaia the opportunity to realise her potential. she only started winning titles after she started her fitness programme in 2010. so yeah, getting fit is a prerequisite to succeess and injury prevention.
