As the clay season is around the corner I decided to open the thread :D Maybe Katja can take over again at some point if she finds the time to do her great overviews :yeah:

Re: Angie's 2017 - Clay Season

^^Recently, I remember that Lisicki opened the CC in 2014 after Bartoli retired the year before. There was a bit of a discussion back then IIRC because people thought Serena as No.1 would do it but they chose Lisicki as the runner-up.

Still can't believe Serena is pregnant. :hysteric: Angie found very lovely words about her in a German interview and she said Serena will be a world-class mom :D

I wish she somehow could find the Wimbledon form from last year at this year's event but we all know it won't happen. Well, clay first :rolls:

i'd forgotten about Bartoli!
what did Angie say in that interview about Serena, can you translate it please?
i saw her nice tweet about the news
finally, i know that angie has to get to the semis in stuttgart to reclaim number 1 spot, but even if she doesnt, does anyone know when she would/could take back the number 1 spot again with Serena not playing? i think Pliskova is too far behind to get to no 1 just yet....

Didn't she win Rome? Probably when those points drop off then. But i figure she will get there in Stuttgart already. She loves the boost from Stuttgart home crowd and conditions are pretty fast for clay there.

I think Angie will come back strong for Wimbledon again. I predicted it last year when she was having horrible clay swing. I am predicting it again. And i will be right again. 0:)

I don't know about you guys but I kinda miss the Y-3 zebra print Angie wore for Roland Garros and Birmingham last year :tennis:

So Angie is playing Stuttgart-Madrid-Rome-Roland Garros?
As for the grass warmup toirnament, as much I like Eastbourne I rather Angie play Birmingham and take the week before Wimbledon to fine-tune on her game. :cheer:

Personally I hated it :SNE: I love Angie's new figure and I really like her in clothes that show off her figure. For me, her best outfits have been the Wimbledon one followed by the US hardcourt swing, followed by the US Open one :grin2:

To be honest, I NEED Angie to win some matches on clay! If she has another season like last year I just don't know how she'll turn it around for grass given that she's been appalling all year.:SNE:

WTA Stuttgart MD

(1) Kerber v BYE
Mladenovic v Lucic-Baroni
Vesnina v Kasatkina
Suarez Navarro v (5)Muguruza

(3)Cibulkova v BYE
Q v Konjuh
(wc)Sharapova v Vinci
Makarova v (7)Radwanska

Pretty tough draw if you ask me but it's always tough in Stuttgart. Let's see what she can do - not that optimistic though

Lucic doesn't scare me. Angie normally feasts on players like her who hit with a ton of pace
Are you for real? These kind of players have beaten her quite a lot lately. Pavs in Monterrey being the last example. Peak MLB is Pavs on crack. Mlad on clay is very dangerous as well. Very difficult R2 for sure no matter who it will be.

The livestream I was watching from wasnt' the best but now seen the full match again at a clearer smoother quality yay!

Was a good match for Angie - nice serving, good movement and better defense and attacking whenever she can :cheer: next up against Svitolina and hoping Angie can bring on her game, her determined fight and self-belief :cheer:

Caught up with the match on youtube..

I just can't with this match-up :hysteric: Angie's mental stumbling block and getting out-grinded by Elina.

2014 - Bouchard was her stumbling block at FO and Wimbledon
2015 - it was Muguruza
2016 Asian Swing + 2017 so far - Svitolina :hysteric:

Re: Angie's 2017 - Clay Season

Angie's recent H2H against Svitolina is the most disgusting thing ever in her career  I somewhat accept(ed) her bad record against Azarenka, Mug or Li Na in the past, but not this one! I get that Svitolina is a very uncomfortable opponent for Angie game-wise, but 1-8 sets in their last 4 matches is inexcusable. Angie at her best has enough consistent controlled aggression to beat her, even on clay! She is just completely blocked mentally. NOTHING really works when she plays her. The match yesterday was a new low! Virtual bagel in the second set

Fortunately, Svitolina tries to vulture Istanbul and is far away from Stuttgart now  Mlads and MLB are on fire atm tho. I hope that Angie can win this match. I'm not convinced tbh...
