Maybe she gets a helicopter or something. Honestly, I don't really care about her results the next few weeks, if she loses both Fed Cup matches 0 & 0 I'd still be way too excited about the AO to care.
Some minutes ago, Angie had her pre-Fed cup press conference and of course there were so many questions about her triumph and how she's feeling at the moment, if she feels pressure..
and then randomly she was asked about the wedding date of Ana and Schweini :spit:

Haha, yeah. I already wrote about the Zika Virus question on some other thread. Funny they not asked her a follow up question like "Do you have a cure for this, Miss Kerber?"
As easy as it is to say these events are meaningless. It should be remembered that many first grand slam winners have slumped in recent years after winning. It's easy to say you don't care, this doesn't matter, but you don't want to get in a situation where you go from in form to out of form very quickly.
Ultimately any year you win a grand slam is a good year, but ideally you don't want to get yourself into a situation where you do crap all for the rest of the year, as this will then pile on pressure in itself.
For Fed Cup the turnaround is going to be really difficult.
Are there really that many first time GS winners who slumped afterwards? I think it's pretty normal that maybe the first few tournaments aren't that successful but I guess most of the champions stayed on the level they had prior to the win.
All in all, I think Angie's the kind of player who can deal well with such a success. But as a fan, a loss in Dubai or Doha now just won't be that hurtful anymore just because I'm so happy for her
Did she really spill the beans about ana!? Angie has been opening up more lately. But, she could've been just speculating. I'm sure she was caught off-guard with the question, and was just trying to be polite.
Yeah, the question was WHEN the wedding will be. You could see in Angie's face that she was thinking about her answer. In that moment she maybe thought that it is obviously no secret anymore that there will be a wedding, only the time is not known. So she responded "I say nothing about it, I keep that to myself. Sorry" But you can find many interpretations of this answer of course  This is definitely no betrayal imo
It would obviously pretty amazing if she could maintain that #2 ranking but it's not the most important thing I guess I'm not really sure if we should expect Angie to be a major contender for all the upcoming big tournaments. For me, it's still a success if she has the same results like before the AO
Well, she can still be unlucky I guess Just because she was only the 9-12th seed at most majors there was no need in getting Muguruza x2 and Azarenka But I won't complain anymore after this year's AO - she got everything back
Today at 1pm we'll see the FC draw ceremony. I'm curious if Rittner decided to let Angie play. I thought she might let Angie out for tomorrow but now that one of the bigger German channels decided to broadcast she'll probably have to let Angie play
Fed Cup date is really unfortunate. Should have made media stuff and talkshow appearances a week long while getting well deserved applause for her achievement. Could have gone to the Goldene Kamera award show on Saturday (and meet Helene Fischer, one of her favorite singers, backstage ). Then a week off to rest.
Instead she can enjoy her triumph just a few days, has to play immediately, is under pressure to deliver two points. Really sucks. But she has to make the best of it...

I got that impression too. She looked really sluggish and tired out there. Probably the reason she was extra aggressive today. Was not here to run balls down for hours. But so proud how she handled the occasion. Had to be tough to come back and play at home after such exhausting 3 weeks.
That crying old man at the end was so cute. I bet he thought he would never see another GS champ after Steffi in his lifetime.
Btw, thx for the tip, Katja. Watched the second set from TV. :yeah:
Deserved win and some pretty good and solid serving. At the end Angie was a bit running out of gas, but that's not surprising after all what happened recently. Overall a solid performance and an important win to level the game for our girls.
If Angie doesn't play tomorrow, Germany loses so she must play.
BTW, the whole Angie-Helene thing is awkward. I remember how cringeworthy it was when she was up there singing with the national team after they won the world cup :spit:
