Very pleased about this, Marina has a great grass court game - well shes only played on it a few times, but it definately suits her big serve, great volleys, superb dropshot sort of game
Marina's played at least 5 Grasscourt ITF's in Aus that I can think of (Berri & Mildura $25k's this year, there were at least 3 $10k ITF's in Aus in 2005).
I'm pretty sure she made the final of all 5. If so, that's already 25 Grasscourt matches she's played in Aus alone.
Didn't she play Wimbledon qualies last year?

Yup 2 this year, Wimbledon last year (lost in 1st round to current top 20 Agnes Szavay) and the 3 10ks in Australia back in 05 to make a total of 5.

Doesn't sound alot, and isn't alot - to put it in perspective shes played as many Carpet tournaments as Grass tournaments

Thank you for everything Mercedes, now please be nice to Socrates for me, perhaps fetch him a bird or two. We love you, always.

Re: Marina Erakovic Cheering Thread

So 26 out of 202 matches in her career have been on grass. That's like 1 in 7. She should be fine.

I'm hoping she will be, but shes only ever playd 1 of her 202 matches on Grass outside Australia - English Grass is apparantly quite different to the Australian stuff, alot of this is based on the climate

Re: Ellens playing incredible in Asia, Marina makes her return in Istanbul next week!

Ellen is the highest seed remaining in 50k Kurume, and plays the only other remaining seed Erika Takao in the Quarterfinals

Re: Ellens playing incredible in Asia, Marina makes her return in Istanbul next week!

After two years of falling in the singles qualifying at the French, Erakovic’s impressive rise into the top 100 sees her a direct acceptance into the main draw in both the singles and doubles this year. Erakovic is set to partner up with Michaella Krajicek in the doubles.

Marina plays Marta Domachowska in the first round, likely against Nadia Petrova in the 2nd

Not a bad draw, not the easiest either though

Re: Ellens playing incredible in Asia, Marina makes her return in Istanbul next week!

should win the first match IMO and then could beat petrova... shes probably one of the best seeds to draw based on current form...

i dont mean to diss marina in anyways cause she cant help it and uses them anyways but my god she has been getting easy draws this year... besides dokic in AO qualies and cirstea... she has been getting very good draws against out of form players, WC's etc...

not meaning anything by that... iv just noticed that looking at her activity tho

dellacqua • dokic • groth • molik • stosur
holland • mirkovic • moore • rogowska • wejnert
clijsters • hantuchova • jankovic • sharapova • venus
