Re: Armenia Tennis

There was this girl, Zaruhi Harutyunian (sp?), who trained in the US. She was 16 and I once read an article about her leaving Armenia to become a tennis star. She had reached semis or something like that in a $10K having a couple of good wins and then she just disappeared from the radar.

Re: Armenia Tennis

That happens to a lot of girls. Greek ones too . We have had so many players with rankings quit tennis lately(e.g.Kontatevidi, Stefanou, Kipritidou, Sakalaridi, Koumantou(has been inactive for a while and lost a rank), and others. I hate to see that happen.

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.

Not me . Even though Greece is there too, I will not go.
A.I have school
B.Religious reasons
C.I live in New York, so it wouldn't be worth it to go there just for FC, to not even watch Daniilidou.
D.It must be hard to get there. There's ferries, connection flights, etc.

Armenians in Year-end rankings:
Singles-
1.Liudmilla Nikoyan-752
2.Anna Movsisyan-800
Doubles-
1.Anna Movsisyan-639
2.Liudmilla Nikoyan-663
3.Ofelya Poghosyan-851
Juniors(18 and Under):
1.Ani Amiraghyan(15)-1482
2.Sirun Davoian(17)-1936

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.

Re: Armenia Tennis

I don't know yet
Last year it was:
Anna Gerasimou(back then about #250. this week #212)
Anna Koumantou(back then about #600. this week NR )
Irini Georgatou(back then NR. this week #608)

Hopefully it will be: Eleni Daniilidou, Anna Gerasimou, Irini Georgatou and a Greek-American girl names Alexis Prousis, but I doubt Prousis and Daniilidou will play so it will probably be Gerasimou and Georgatou, but it's hard to choose the rest. It takes place in April, so there's still a lot of time. Anyways, this is kind of off-topic. For Armenia it will probably be:
Anna Movsisyan
Liudmilla Nikoian
Ani Amirghyan
Ofelya Poghosyan

Daniilidou. Venus. Azarenka. Halep. Wickmayer.
Cornet. Ivanovic. Vesnina.. Vaidisova. Krajicek.
Paszek. Begu. Cirstea. Lisicki. Pavlyuchenkova.
Pironkova. Stephens. Tatishvili. McHale. Flipkens.
Grammatikopoulou ~ Papamichail ~ Sakkari

Ani Amirghyan reached the final as a qualifier and will face unseeded Russian, Olga Musilovich.
She also reached the semis in doubles so I expect to see a large boost in her junior rank, even if it is just a G5. Go Ani!!!!Win it all!!!!!!!!
