Re: 2014 - What's left to say.. - Pattaya to Miami

Julia made the MD of Indian Wells (third to last in), thanks to Kirilenko, Hampton and V. Williams not playing there. Phew.

Not playing Doha.

Maybe there's a mixed doubles invitational somewhere at that time.

There's a 100k in Midland, USA starting on 10th February that she could theoretically play, if not she's taking February off.

At least she seems to like Thailand, first she gets Thai food delivered and then she's tweeting with Muguruza about how beautiful it is in Thailand.

There's an easy way how you can spend the whole week there Julia.

Re: 2014 - February & March - Pattaya to Miami

So she either has convinced the Doha organizers that she's partly Arabic or she's decided to take a long time off during the last few weeks in which she had a ~70 ranking to enter tournaments.

Re: 2014 - February & March - Pattaya to Miami

It's sure that she doesn't play Dubai?? Hard to believe bc there is a lot of money in the pot. I thought she plays quali....

It's a wise move to play small tournaments , considering she has problem to win 3 matches in a row.

The picture is from Paris Old times :P

Re: 2014 - February & March - Pattaya to Miami

Not really sure she'd even make the Q cut off for Dubai with her new ranking. And Dubai is the week before Acapulco, skipping Doha to play Dubai wouldn't really make much sense unless she gets a WC, but even then I don't know why she'd skip Doha.

Re: 2014 - February & March - Pattaya to Miami

The only fault we actually heard Julia talking about in concern of the last season is the way she was dealing her injuries. As a part of her conclusions about last year Julia mentioned that she wants to play less and stay more time at home. I have not been looking at her schedule for this season, but therefore this kind of break makes some sense.

Tbh, it`s not a secret Julia never was and never will be a good doubles player. She has some fun, gets some practice and not to forget is making some money with it.
In the long terms I still don`t really think that it has any significant influence on the quality of her playing abilities in singles, her physical shape or her schedule. From that point of view there actually is nothing to say against her frequent appearances in these competitions per se.
It imo can be seen more as an issue as it`s part of her "The main direction is right" statement.
It tells something about her expectations and the abilities to reflect on her own development. In the end Julia might probably deprive herself of any possibility to get further with that.
Live goes on and next is Pattaya. Must be a beautiful place. All the best for her.
