Re: Central Europe Leg (Linz & Luxembourg)

At least she won, gives her another opportunity to play herself into form (which is fairly necessary right now).

Re: Central Europe Leg (Linz & Luxembourg)

Well... with her big wind up, I'd say it would definitely take at least one match to get used to such a quick surface.

Here's hoping it doesn't take her two matches, because she needs to start playing better- very soon.

Well done, Julia!

English Eurosport commentator about one ball-boy: "I`m sure he wants to be Julia`s ball-boy tonight."

Serena: "We have great personalities like Jelena (Jankovic) on the tour."
Jelena: "If I had to pick someone after me, I'd pick Serena."

Good Luck

Re: Central Europe Leg (Linz & Luxembourg)

220K Linz R1: [6]Julia Görges def Anastasija Sevastova 63 36 76(7)

Julia’s on court interview after her win:
Quote:
"I played a pretty talented girl today," Goerges said. "She started the year at No.35 so she's always going to be dangerous, no matter where she's ranked.

"I started well, but when I was up a break in the second set my level dropped and she started playing better and better. I was match points down but she gave me an easy forehand then a double fault - but I'm happy I'm through."

Goerges, who cracked the Top 20 this year but is currently just outside at No.21, said coming out of these situations is sometimes a boost going further into a tournament. "It can make you even more dangerous when you're match point down and get another chance. We'll see how it works out for me."
R2: [LL]Evgeniya Rodina (RUS, # 104) vs [6]Julia Görges (GER, # 21) (H2H: 1:1
Last meeting: QF 100K Biarritz 2010 (Clay) 26 06
Odds: solid for Julia (1.29 vs 3.5)

After I watched Evgeniya courtside during her first two qualifying matches (solid wins against Jelena Dokić (ret) & Anna Lena Grönefeld who must felt like mashed potatoes) I was very surprised about her loss against Stéphanie Foretz Gacon on Monday (I didn’t see this match).

All the best, and a solid serve Jule!

Why would Anna Lena have felt like mashed potatoes?

Re: Central Europe Leg (Linz & Luxembourg)

Well, a bad loss again. Maybe if she had gotten through this round she would have started to play better.

Serving stats look a little poor. I said before that she needs to try to win over 65% of serving points to have a strong service game. 55% is the minimum to put up a decent fight, which is basically what she had today (56%). But her opponent was at 67%, so it was unlikely to be enough.

These stats reflect not only her serving but also her follow up shots after the serve.

A quick review of the live scoring thread indicates she was a bit error prone, as usual on her bad days.

Edit: a more detailed review of the live scoring thread shows she was out of sorts from the very beginning and never played well. I can sympathise but she has to overcome this kind of thing. She needs to understand how to make her game work, let's say, 7-8 times out of 10.

I care so much for Julia and i know most of you do too, so show your support to her and it will show in her game . Long live Julia and best of luck for 2012 and so on.

I've always thought the banning thing was weird. I have always thought there should be no higher punishment than temporary suspension on a public forum like TF. We all have opinions, there will sometimes be disagreements. It's like life, right? There are always individuals we don't get on with, but we deal with it as best we can.

If there is such a thing as banning on a forum I think it should be used way less than it is on this forum, and only for very, very extreme examples.

I always loved your signature, by the way, if you read this. Which I think you will, even if you can't post.
