Julia´s Clay Court Season 2017! Roland Garros

Full schedule for Julia from now on:

Prague MD
Madrid MD
Rome MD
Nürnberg MD
Roland Garros MD

Starts with International Prague this week and the field is really strong as Julia is not even seeded!

(3) Strycova vs Goerges
Linette vs Q
Golubic vs Q
(8) Siniakova vs Kovinic

Tough first round against Strycova, they just played against each other before FedCup when Julia had to retire because of her wrist injury, I expect a close match again, hope Julia can win it, 2nd round would be Linette or Hradecka, good luck!!

Re: Julia´s Clay Court Season 2017! First event: International Prague

lost 46 06 to Strycova

tough opener for sure but that´s really disappointing, first 1st round defeat of 2017 as well and absolutely no fight today it seems..

I couldn´t watch it but 1st set was close, Julia was break up twice but couldn´t take advantage of it, then got broken at *45, lost two long games to be 02* behind and then barely made a point anymore, some users say that she tanked, wouldn´t surprise me looking at the stats, serve was totally not working today also...

Hopefully just a bad day, maybe still annoyed because of Stuttgart, not motivated for this event or whatever, next chance in Madrid, hopefully a good draw there

Madrid

1st round: vs. Qualifier
2nd round: Stosur or Sorribes Tormo

some tricky Qualifiers in the draw but it could have been worse for Julia!

Re: Julia´s Clay Court Season 2017! First event: International Prague

her fans disappeared and Julia´s good form has disappeared as well for now...

Duque Marino def. Görges 63 64

Shame that she is in a little slump now, clay is usually her best surface, hope that she can turn it around in Rome or Nürnberg to get some confidence again for RG!
Really bad stats again on serve also, I mean, 4 aces and 1 DFs looks good at first but 5 breaks for Duque and 55% won over 1st serve and 29% won over 2nd serve is just not enough

She was good during the fed cup tie. You never know with Julia when she'll suddenly get a good result. Maybe, hopefully, at Roland Garros?

ROME

1st round: Görges vs. Mladenovic

Not an easy 1st round obviously, Mladenovic with the Stuttgart final before, now today Madrid final, tough opponent!
Mladenovic looked a bit injured yesterday and she surely will be tired, so we´ll see how it goes, could be that she withdraws also, anyway, let´s hope that Julia will be able to play a good match and finally gets a win on clay after FC, good luck.

Julia played very well and picked up an excellent win over one of the form players of the season. No doubt Kiki would have been a little tired but nonetheless Julia played great tennis, dominating with her forehand. If only she could play like that more often. Sometimes she just likes to remind us of what she is capable of.

Nice win 7:6(6) 7:5 ,of course Kiki was tired, but still Julia played well and was able to take the occasion.

Hopefully now she can win against Jankovic (lost to her during AO). Go, go

Had a feeling Jule would win today and she did very well in the match, definitely dictated most of the play! Definitely a good draw going forward and who knows, a SF here would give her a French Open seeding

Julia Goerges

Julia
really happy that she was able to win that one, I couldn´t watch much, return did not seem that great but good performance in general, important that she won that TB, was pretty close there and good for her confidence anyway after the two 1st round defeats before...

Jankovic next, JJ really did not do anything special lately but still, Julia often struggles against her, it´s just not someone who suits her but I hope that she can win it this time somehow, she just has to stay consistent and patient enough and wait for her chances, no brainless ballbashing please...

Beats JJ 2-6 7-6 6-1.

I only saw the 3rd set, in which JJ clearly wasn't interested. Jule won the last 12 points of the match, most of them without even having to hit a ground stroke.

Julia is 7-2 in three-setters this year, with all seven of those wins coming after she lost the first set. Remember when she couldn't win these to save her life? Credit must go to Flo the physio.

Julia
Finally a win over JJ again!!
Good fightback here, had the early break in 1st set and then Jankovic made 6 games in a row!
Julia coming back from *56 0-30 and then winning the TB totally killed Jankovic, 3rd set was easy then, so important for her confidence!

Muguruza or Ostapenko next, not an easy draw here but more than satisfied with these two wins already.

Re: Julia´s Clay Court Season 2017! Madrid: 3rd round lost to Muguruza

lost 57 46 to Muguruza
Many chances wasted here, 2nd set she had a 4-1 lead and then got broken twice in a row to love, really weak end of the match unfortunately

Happy in general that she had two good wins here, hope that she can win some matches in Nürnberg now also.

Re: Julia´s Clay Court Season 2017! Madrid: 3rd round lost to Muguruza

Nürnberg

1st round vs. Hibino
2nd round vs. Larsson/Witthöft

Julia is 6th seed in Nürnberg, I do think that she will beat Hibino, H2h against Larsson is 1-4, would prefer to see her against Witthöft, then Siegemund could wait in the QFs, good chance to win some matches for sure, good luck!!
