Winning again after losing the 1st set, served it out to 0 after saving 2 BPs before at *43, good stuff, not clue about the quality as I was not able to watch it.
Stats look pretty good with 10 aces and 80% won over 1st serve!
Vekic next, dangerous but often no consistency at all, I hope that Julia can win that also, she should be more consistent on her serve at least, which could give her the advantage!
But happy to see that Julia is obviousl already healthy again!!
Win over Vekic 2&2. Didn't watch this match, but Julia didn't even face a single BP so she probably served very well. Yesterday I saw the 3rd set against Kontaveit, and Jules 1st serve looked superb for me.
Next match - QF vs. Vickmayer/Khromacheva, so it's winnable too.
I couldn´t watch it as well but that was much easier than expected, Vekic's 1st serve percentage was quite bad, incl. 6 DFs, which surely helped Julia!
Good that she made it in under an hour today after that long match yesterday, tomorrow off and then hopefully a good match on Friday as well, her serve will be important again!
Managed to catch the second half of the second set, at times somewhat spotty off the ground, but great, great serving. Finished it with 4 aces in a row
Also good composure, wasted triple BP at 4-4 in the second but didn't fold after that and just kept going.
Serve really was great again today, in general she is on fire with her serve this week! :yeah:
13 aces, 2 DFs, no break pts against her, just good!
Semifinal again, that happens regularly again lately, positive sign!
Wins against Kontaveit,Vekic and Wickmayer and only got broken once in those three matches!
Babos or Dodin next, both tough, let´s hope that Julia will have another good day but good tournament for her already for sure.
well, Julia lost 57 16!
I had no time to watch it but seems like she had no chance, bad on return (nothing new against better players) and seems like only her 1st serve kept her alive in 1st set, 2nd set she went down 0-5 quickly.
anyway, a good tournament in general, much better than expected after the FC weekend incl injury!
She only flew to Acapulco yesterday, I doubt that with basically no time to get used to the conditions and timezone she'll be able to do much damage here.
and she won 26 64 63 :yeah:
great fight again, surely had to get used to the conditions at first but stats look really good in 3rd set, well done!
Tsurenko next, we´ll see if Julia has enough energy left, last year in Rome she lost after giving a way that big lead, so it would be nice if she could win this time....
retired at 16 02 down!
I couldnt watch, not sure about the reason, I guess/hope it was just too much for her lately with Budapest, then travelling to Acapulco and then immediately a long match against K.Bond again!
Deserved rest now, get ready for IW and win one match there at least!!
1st round vs. Tomljanovic
2nd round vs. [16] Stosur
Could have been much worse, Tomljanovic had a nice comeback win against Bouchard last week but she already had to retire in her 2nd match again, so surely not at 100% yet!
Stosur is an opponent who suits Julia + she is not in good shape at all lately, so I really hope that Julia can reach 3rd round here and 3rd round would be against Sevastova or Davis probably so also not impossible...
Julia´s latest results were quite good so let´s hope that she can go far
The match is on youtube, couldn´t watch much of it yet but 2nd serve seemed a bit shaky, 1st serve percentage has to improve against Davis for sure.
H2H is 1-2, all matches from 2014, both ladies had a good start into 2016, Davis really improved lately, so that won´t be easy but Julia has the better serve, hope she can use that advantage, she has to put Davis under pressure immediately, would be great to see her in 4th round here.
