Re: Rogers Cup, Toronto

There's an absolute load of pics of Li visiting an Asian mall in the pre-tournament gallery on the WTA webpage(part of the WTA's massive pro-China effort),but the final two photos--the last impression--are reserved for Petra and not one of the overrated cover girls...in the world of the WTA,that translates at least a little bit as respect

PARTY IN THE PANIC ROOM! Serena wins an undoubtedly clean #22

Congrats on Number Three, Kim! We need more of you in this world

Hopefully she's on the tennis courts, practicing/working up a sweat!?

She did do that CNN breakfast interview Reyeszjj. Hopefully we'll see that soon?

My guess, is that she's going to play Weds. We'll see?

Re: Rogers Cup, Toronto

Firstly a good draw to come back to after the mini-break – Could have been tougher!

Too late to go back now, so whatever.
Corwandt does have a point here with a view to keeping the "house tidy" & avoiding 20 or so tournament threads annually- Not too late to save the day - we could still perhaps have threads around tier of tournament - Grand slams, Premiers etc.

I am sure we could come-up with some good workable house-keeping ideas - please post them so we could try & get some consensus (I promise it will not be like the US debt ceiling squabble!) - Thanks

Bartoli out in 75 minutes. Was she injured with Serena in 2nd set ?

Thanks. I saw her and she seems to be in good spirit.

I didn't see this match either. But I read that Galina was playing well: few UE, good defence and playing with confidence (well she should feel confident with her good run in Baku ).

But yeah, she's having a good comeback. Started the year playing quallies for 25k's and now having good results in WTA tournaments.

But I'm still a bit sad Marion lost

Oh. I'm glad you noticed that Bartoli (and her serve) just seemed to collapse in the second set of that match against Serena. Yeah. Serena played well, but it just wasn't her it appeared, on why Bartoli lost so easily.

I want to keep this on Petra, so I'm not accused of off topic conversation. Saying that, I'll just add, you can never be overconfident for your favorite player, no matter how good they are. Just look at Bartoli today!

Good Luck Petra!

Re: Rogers Cup, Toronto

looks like all top 8 except Kim will play on Wed, and only 5 slots for Centre Court, so I guess Maria, Li, Woz will have 3 slots, Serena (if through tmw night) will have another slot against (Jankovic or Görges) and Petra will be unlikely to get a spot if Canada's Marino or Wozniak through 1st round tonight/tmw, which means no TV coverage

Re: Rogers Cup, Toronto

They can just bump Li Na. She ain't nothing special, and won her Major two majors ago.

Please don't give me this "First Asian" stuff, and who resides in Toronto. Lol This is being broadcast to the whole country, North America, and the world. Plus, Petra's the now and the future. Ni La (until proven otherwise) is the past. Knock On Wood.

And they can still bump the two Canadians, it's not like people wouldn't see them (unless only the Center court has camera's)?

Hopefully (for us) they'll both lose!

You're on track when you suggest that most casual fans aren't passionate about watching Li,but the WTA is kissing the PRC's ass to the extreme with their marketing thrust,so that's their 'justification'.Honestly, though, despite Petra's humble,non-attention-seeking nature,it'll only take one more Slam...or possibly only a rise to the Top Four...before Petra indisputably earns an almost-fixed place on CC...even for casual fans

LOL, tennis-wise, i think Maria and Woz should be arranged to the smaller courts so only a small number of fans will be suffering from their insufferable style
