Well I though Ann was going to play with Maria kirilenko, but she got partnered with justine which is good and then Anabel wanted to play with maria sharapova but got no reply Now anabel is playing with maria kirilenko which should be an interesting mix.

I didn't get any points from Maria Sharapova either.

Nadia Petrova def. Maria Kirilenko 3-6 6-2 6-2

Unfortunately for the Beesley haters out there Nadia's swan song got out to a flying start as she cruised after dropping the first set. Maria never really had any hope against her countrywoman but she didn't go down without putting up a huge fight against the top seed.

Kaia Kanepi def. Claudine Schaul 7-6(4) 6-3

After getting a nice easy walkover over Maria, Kaia was tested in this battle against Claudine. Kaia was barely able to come overcome Claudine in a fierce first set battle which really was the decider in this match as Claudine seemed to fall apart after this match.

Pous-Tio

Laura Pous-Tio def. Marie Eve Pelletier 6-3 4-6 6-3

In a battle royale, Laura Pous-Tio continued her fine start to Season 2 as she got a good win over one of Laura Robson's nemesis' Marie Eve Pelletier. Pous-Tio was just too good out there today--and Marie Eve didn't really get the chance to get into her rhythm despite winning the second set.

Rebecca Marino def. Katarina Srebotnik 6-7(5) 6-2 7-5

At least one of Canada's players managed to survive. Rebecca Marino was definitely challenged during this match today--but she managed to pull it out. Becca bounced back from an incredibly tight first set to take control of the match. Katarina has had a good tournament, and this result is nothing to be ashamed of, Marino is just that good.

Justine Henin def. Bojana Jovanovski 7-6(5) 6-4

Close match! Justine was just too good for Bojana at key stages in the match. The Belgian moves on in her quest to capture the title in Warsaw. Bojana will just have to wait another week for a chance to win a title.

Medina Garrigues

Anabel Medina Garrigues def. Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-2 3-6 6-2

Anabel was just too good out there for Nastya. Anabel did struggle at stages which is really calling into question her ability to be a prime threat consistently to the worlds better ranked players--but we will see how she fares in the later rounds of this tournament. Anastasia certainly had her chances during this match but she was just unable to convert in the end.

Dominika Cibulkova def. Kurumi Nara 6-3 7-6(2)

The Queen was just too good out there today for Nara. Dominika simply toyed around with Nara while up 5-0 in both sets. It seemed as if Dominika wanted to spend as much time on the court today--because she doesn't have that much longer before she retires. Dominika is one to watch during this tournament, which would be coined as a disaster if she finds a way to lose to anyone.

Bondarenko

Alona Bondarenko def. Beatriz Garcia Vidagany 4-6 6-4 6-4

Apparently it's good to be seeded in Warsaw--as only two seeds have lost thus far. Alona Bondarenko continued the good run of the chalk as she edged the Spaniard in three close sets. The only difference between the players were mere points that Alona was able to win in crucial, crucial moments of the match. Bea had 9 break points at 4-4 in the third set, but she just couldn't convert, and she went on to lose the match. Alona moves on to play Dominika in the quarter finals.
