Being such a prestigious event, the line-up here is very impressive, although there are some notable names missing in the doubles draw, such as the Williams sisters, who are both injured, Cara Black, who has skipped the last two events mysteriously, and the team of Victoria Azarenka and Maria Kirilenko, who are likely sitting out because Azarenka suffering from a hip injury and want to focus on singles. Kirilenko will instead play with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. There are still some great teams in the competition though, which is headed by top-seeded Gisela Dulko and Flavia Pennetta and includes many of the top teams in PYW Doubles, such as Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy, and Vania King and Yaroslava Shvedova, both of whom are undefeated, as well as some recent PYW Doubles titlists, like Shahar Peer and Shuai Peng. Australian doubles veteran Rennae Stubbs is also a notable name in the draw, as she is taking a break from her recent retirement to partner American Jill Craybas this week.
