If she had played at Rolands Garros instead of the dump of a tournament in Belgium, she might of had a good shot of a direct acceptance. But at 111, she needs a few pull muscles and quite a bit of failed drug tests. If she decides to play the Open Qualifying, she should take a page out of Kirsten Flipkens' playbook!! Down 1-3, don't tank the set! Just call a medical timeout!! Ice your opponent when you icing down your quads, back or whatever! Helped her when two matches to qualified for the main draw (though it was not neccessary against YingYing Duan)!!

You're right, she needs to be smart like players such as Kirilenko and Kuznetsova who have adopted bathroom breaks and MTO's into their gameplan like a dropshot.

I don't like the players, who use dirty tricks on court.

Does that mean she is responsible for her schedule? The time off for the National Games has cost her ranking points winning two or three matches at two or three more tournaments might have gotten her a DA at the Open.

I don't either. When Flipkens pulled that stunt against Estrella Cabeza, I thought the chair made a mistake of not allowing Cabeza stay warm by hitting to the ball persons. There was some confusions because he going to allow her hit some balls Kirsy was ready to play. The second time, Catalina Castaño tried to played the same game as well by taking a bathroom break but to no avail. I doubt the problem has been addressed.

According to WTA, Zhang is ranked #111. She needed to be at 108 to be accepted.

Yes, she is. She's to play Chinese National Games for her provincial government, though. They helped her a lot.

IMO, those Fake-MTO players are thick-skinned.

Yes, I don't think Zhang's current ranking is good enough to get in USO MD this year.

No. I thought the deadline of USO main draw entry is like 4 or 6 weeks before the tournament starts.

- WTA 125 Suzhou (CHN) 2013 (Aug 05)
- US Open 2013 (Aug 26)

Still, Serena Zhang'd be one of the top seeds in USO QD.

July 15 was the cutoff date for DAs. She could win all the tournaments from today to the start of the Open and she will not not make the main draw unless 7 withdraw or the USTA gives her WC.

The entry deadline is 6 weeks before the start which was July 15. As long as her rank is in the high 110s on August 19 which is the cutoff date for the Open Qualifying event Aug 20-23.

Re: Shuai Zhang cheering thread - volume 3

Are the individual finals at the Chinese National Games July 22-30? The last games were held in late October, why were they earlier this year?

Yes. So the players could play French Open and Wimbledon. But most of the baby Golden Flowers chose to stay in China to prepare for Chinese National Games, except for Serena Zhang and SaiSai.

Okay, I am assuming the real games are in June and July, but wasn't the last games in October? or was that just the tennis portion of the games? BTW, what did Shuai do in the team competition? It seems that she was not used at all.
