Tian Tian plays Samantha Stosur in the first round of the USO! I think Tian Tian beat her in Fed Cup a little while ago, I think Tian TIan should be able to get through but who knows!

GO TIAN TIAN!

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!

No, it was Jie who beat Stosur. Tian-Tian lost to Stosur at Doha and Dubai in very tough matches. Due to their current form, I hope Tian-Tian can get revenge!

Third time lucky for Tian2, she is going to be fired up I think agianst Stosur this time... In the second of their matches this year, it was 3 close sets, all either 7-6 or 7-5... So there is definitely a chance for lovely Sun
Give it your best Sun, and that way I'm sure you'll win

2 Top-10 wins (Serena Williams and Patty Schnyder)
1 Singles Title (Tashkent '06, defeating Azarenka, Tulyaganova)
13 Doubles Titles (including 2004 Olympic Gold and 2008 AO Mixed)

just from qualifying, Sun will be up to about 154 in the rankings... with a win against Sam, she'll hopefully be in the 130's! keep going TianTian

I was impressed by her recent performance. I always thought she was only good at double match. Another Chinese player- Yan Zi, I think she has the strength to improve her current ranking- she can be top 100.

I knew she'd do it, Tiantian finally avenges the losses that made her year up to now so disappointing... She beats Stosur 6-3 7-6(4), without losing her serve once! Li Na take note!
I'm so happy for her, she now has matched her GrandSlam best performance of round 2 at Wimbledon 04... Keep going, I'm sure you can win one more, if not a few

no need for because she kept her concentration and didn't lose from a winning position for once, and managed to win a tie-break!

woohooo another asian thru, congrats Tian tain!!

Stosur's known to hav a pretty solid serve, one of the faster servers, and usually tie-breaks favor the player with the better serve but tian won the tie-break and she hold serve thru out d whole match. Does tis mean we finaly hav an asian female tennis player that hav a serve as her weapon instead of weakness in their game?

haha not too sure, although I do remember posting a while back in this thread (i think?) that she can serve regularly over 100 mph, which has got to be a start compared to the other asian players! She's one of the taller girls, about 5 ft 9. This is what makes her serve better. Compare her to Li Na who is 5ft 7 1/2, or Zheng Jie who is just 5ft 4 hehe

Keep progressing Sun, you rock
